Well he's had two, back-to-back, great years now so we are able to back up our claims more than you guys are. And I've said Hoke is a good coach plenty of times. But I will never, ever say a coach is great just after one season. I mean look at Auburn. They go from winning an NC to barely making a bowl game. You guys win 10-11 games next year and I'll say Hoke is a great coach.

Yeah, I've watched two NC's in football at East Lansing as a child . Saw one of the greatest teams in the history of the big ten play in the mid 60's at MSU, watched the game of the century as a child. Watched my brothers team with Kirk Gibson in 78 (BTW look up all the listed National Champions for that year). Tell me again what I've seen, where I've played or who I've coached.
Just answer: Are you pleased with half a championship or not, cause you're talking in circles.
I guess you've witnessed the 10 years of probation during those times aswell.

Sorry man the Spartan D isn't elite either. Your scoring D isn't good enough to be elite. Not to mention giving up big points to ND, Wisconsin, Nebraska. Elite D's would be able to hold those teams to less points than you did.

More or less my stance. Even Ron Zook made a Rose Bowl once

The 10th ranked scoring D isn't elite? Giving up 1 PPG more than UM despite having to play Wisconsin twice. State was in the top 20 in every major defensive category. If that's not "elite", then it's "across the board excellent".

I see a lot of room for improvement off your team last year, which was a few snaps away from being 8-4 instead of 11-2. Your 2011 season was extremely similar to MSU's 2010 season, which I heard all last summer was the product of a weak schedule. The general tenor was that if MSU could replicate that success against a tougher 2011 schedule, then Dantonio was really building something solid.
It's my opinion that the same should apply to Hoke. UM has the toughest non-conf. schedule in the conference, with 2 home non-conf. games instead of the 4 you had last year. Road games against tOSU and Nebraska could be a problem, and the boys in East Lansing aren't going to be a cake walk in Ann Arbor. I'm not going to sit here and predict 7-5 for UM or anything like that. On the contrary, this schedule can leave no doubt in anyone's mind that UM's back, as long as you win 9 games or more.

Yup, Michigan State had an excellent defense. Michigan State is in the second tier of defenses with Georgia, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina. Michigan is the tier after that.
Fun fact:Michigan is third in points allowed against ranked opponents. Only behind Alabama and LSU.
