Soon you are going to get a site wide ip ban on your original account.

I'm not actually advocating this, but you could solve the problem by at least letting him know you're willing to go to tRCMB and post his IP address.......

Due, with all due respect, it is. They don't act that way when they're with other Michigan fans. They're too busy talking about how great you are. When a Walmart variety Wolverine finds out you are a Spartan, look out, stupid, ignorant shit is flying your way.

Unlike a good number of posters on Rcbm, right? Should I use TanFan, Ross, and tJYD to formulate my opinion on all Sparties?

Sorry to break it to you, but MSU is not immune from this kind of fan.

It's as significant of a part of the UM fanbase as the people who wish injuries on kids is MSU's fanbase. That is to say, the minority. Please don't judge the majority by the actions of the minority.

I would strongly disagree with that. You're viewing it from a UM perspective. There is a reason we Spartans act the way we do. If we only had to deal with sane, sensible UM grads, this rivalry would probably be pretty fun.

I don't think Tanfan, Ross, or tJYD are good examples at all. Tanfan hates MSU fan boys more than UM'ers. Ross isn't a Spartan, he's some kid posting on our board, and tJYD is a bigger fan of conference realignment than he is actual sports. And the price is right.

Now if you want to argue that a large portion of our fan base cares more about UM losing than MSU winning, or that a large portion of our fanbase hates a large portion of our fan base, I think that's accurate. And sad. But I'd rather have that than what you have.

  • I'm sure we've all encountered fans from other fan bases who acted like jackasses. MSU is not above that.

Hell, at the M v ND game this year, I sat next to the most obnoxious a-hole State fan wearing all his State gear. Ran his mouth the ENTIRE GAME. And State wasn't even playing in the GD game!!!!. As I said, State is not immune to this kind of behavior.

Not really, you're looking at it from an MSU fan's point of view. There is a group of Michigan fans who are jackasses, there is also a group of MSU fans that are jackasses.

I'm not saying we don't have those fans, I'm saying by percentage, you're fan base has much more. And since your fanbase is larger, it has considerably more by volume.

Let me explain it this way.
Most UM grads I know are alright people. Not all, but most. Let's take them out of the argument for a moment.
Is it safe to say that a very high percentage of MSU fans went to MSU? That's always been my experience. I'd also venture to say the a large percentage of non-UM grad fans did not go to college, period.

Would it also be safe to say that, on average, MSU fans are more educated and make more money than UM fans that didn't go to UM? It may not be rue in every case, I'm just saying on average.

Would it also be safe to say that as education and socio-economic conditions trend downward, the likely hood for this type of behavior increases? I'm not saying all poor UM fan's are like this, or that all well-off MSU grads aren't like this, I'm just saying that by percentage, they probably are.

If you don't disagree with what I said above, I don't see how you can argue that the Walmart portion of your fanbase has a greater percentage of morons than Spartan fans.

If you do disagree with anything I say, there might not be more use in talking, because I really don't think any of that is up for debate. This isn't a slight to anyone that likes UM and didn't go there, there is still a chance you are a good, smart, successful person.

But there is a higher percentage chance of you NOT being one than a Spartan fan. That is all.

Ok let me offer this out: Message boards aren't really a good example of any fan base. Regardless of the team you root for, you have pretty much the exact same chance of being an internet tough guy.

Can we let it go? This is really stupid, UM is a classy instituion and so is MSU there's no need to go down this road.

The argument is your fanbase has more idiots, both by percentage and by volume, than ours. I don't think I've been arguing anything else. There are a lot more ilovetombrady's, MrWoodson, and Peter Klima's out walking the streets than Nigel Uno's.

I thought I made it clear I have no problem with UM itself? Notice I've never once called it it scUM or any other stupid nick name? I simply cannot stand the single toothed, wearing my 1996 championship t shirt with 50 holes, UM fan who thinks they have any room to say "WHYD YA GO TO SPARTY? COULDN'T GET INTO MICHIGAN?!?!?!? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
But if we want to move on to something else, by all means.

It becomes your own personal truth and nobody will convince you or I otherwise. For me it happened 23 years ago when I moved to the east side of Detroit. Mind you I had grown up on the west side TC area lived in mid Michigan and northern Michigan. Mom and dad from the U.P. When I was making the move my friends tell me " oh coming behind the 'blue wall'". I'm like WTF? Anyway when I get here I start getting ribbed about my college education from acquaintances who had associates degrees from macomb college. It grates on you. And here is why it's like that in the tri-county area: don canham. Guy was a genius. Marketer extrordinaire. Generations have grown up here with one winning team in the 70's and 80's. Michigan. Their three big rivals they loathe and even if you didn't go there if your parents, blue collar or not, had season tickets you felt a part of the family because canham did a hell of a job. You feel u of m is your school so you can make fun of Osu ND and MSU no matter where you went or didn't go to school. U of M is your family.

It's not like that outstate and I have lived in five counties. U of m fans out state don't have the ties or in many cases season tickets the tri county area does. They don't even realize they're obnoxiously stupid joking about degrees etc. It is the truth for many Spartans trapped behind the blue wall.
