It seems strange that Brundidge would leave if he knew that Burke was going to go pro. Of course I'll grasp onto anything at this point to convince myself that Burke will stay lol.

It seems strange that Beilein would let Brundidge leave if he knew Burke was going to go pro.

i think its not so much about how another yr would help him (it would), but more about a weak nba draft for point guards...

if he can be a first rounder now, GO (who wouldnt?)

stay around and risk; injury, sub-par yr, or more competition in next yrs draft

Ehh, as long as Burke stays I won't really care. But if he leaves then I will be in full meltdown mode.

Agreed. Smot is a loss, but replaceable. Colton and Brundige were depth players. But Trey? He IS the team right now.

Losing a guy that's like 6'9 with experience in Beilein's system that can shoot the 3 is kind of a big deal.

Yeah, but losing his turnovers, sometimes-questionable effort, and horrible defense isn't.

You just described Chris Allen and yes, it was a big deal. See MSU 2010-2011.

Well seeing as Michigan brings in McGary and returns Horford, no I don't think it is a big deal. Comparing 2 teams with completely different roster makeups is not a good comparison.

No man, it's a big deal. You lose 2 years of developing a guy that's 6'9 and shoots the three that fits Beeliner's system.

Hey that's your opinion, I'm just saying I don't think it's that big of a deal. Michigan will be more talented next year if Burke stays.

Losing a guy that shoots 43% of his 3s is a big deal....on the surface.
He's also a guy who was a liability on defense which contributed to who knows how many points for the opponent. He only averaged 21 minutes a game yet had more fouls per minutes played than anyone else on the team.

And you mention his 6'9" height but he was never an imposing figure. His rebounding numbers did not come from inside the paint.

Would we rather have him back next year? Of course. Are we suddenly an NIT team next year without him? Nope.

Now Trey? That's a whole other story.

So the consensus from the UM fans is that this isn't a big deal? Aight. You just lost 3 players meaning you have no depth. You'll be relying on freshman, a marginal at best center, lose your 2 senior leaders, and all this is alright because hey, Burke may not go pro and some guy I've never heard of will be healthy next year.

There's no sense in discussing this anymore. lol.

I never said that losing Novak and Douglass wasn't a big deal. Because it really is. Just that Smotrycz wasn't all that big of a deal.

I'm sure you are one of the people who also thought Smot was garbage until he left Michigan. And Michigan won't be the first team to rely on freshman (shocking I know). It sucks that Smot is leaving but Michigan is still a 20 win team if Burke sticks around.

You have a difficult time staying on point. We were discussing Smotrycz leaving. Nobody said losing Douglass and Novak wasn't a big deal. Losing Smotz's 21minutes, 3 fouls per game, and 7.7ppg is nothing to worry about.......unless you're a Spartan fan just looking to kick the hornet's nest.

We have 3, and now possibly 4, pretty good incoming freshman. We're optimistic. Much the same as Spartan fans are about Gray and Mr. Basketball Matt Costello.

The biggest issue is depth imo. We've lost 5 players, but only about 25 ppg and 13 rpg. Those aren't insurmountable numbers to replace.

  • Beilein should hire Ziegler and bring his son in for insurance. When Burke rips your heart out it won't hurt as bad

Izzo lost abou 60 to 70% of his offense last year and he did pretty well this year. But then again, that's Izzo

Seriously? Shut the hell up. I'm sick of your know-it-all attitude.

Who are you to say he'll be better off with another year in college? His stock will drop and it will cost him money. Your selfishness is shining through. The world doesn't revolve around you (and your misguided theories). He needs to take care of himself, and there's no sense in waiting. Good Luck in the Association, Trey!

Maybe I misspoke. Trey, now that I think about it, compare the trim you'll get in the league to the cows at Michigan. Run, don't walk to your agents office

I think that Michigan can do it but it won't be easy. Right now they'll need to replace about 38% of their offense. If Burke leaves that number goes up to 60%. I won't be thrilled however if Hardaway ends up getting more looks to help replace Michigan's scoring.

  • Honest question for the UM fans;

How much would Burke leaving, when considered in combination with the transfers and Morris/Manny leaving early, reflect on Beilein?

I guess from my standpoint, I'd start to wonder if Beilein was losing some of the momentum he'd built with recruiting and the share of the title. And, subsequently, whether he was really the right fit for UM.
