    I care what coaches think.

Well coaches poll at big ten meetings had you as a favorite.

Oh do you care that coach Hoke refers to them as Ohio? I could care less but evidently the two schools down there seem to be chafed by it. Hope that doesn't bite you guys in the ass.

So their seed is more important than winning a conference championship as far as determining what type of season they had?

    [dastardlylaugh]

lol As far as determing how good they are compared to everyone else in the country then yes. That's what rankings do. They determine how good you are compared to every other team in the country.

Good thing Ohio ignored those rankings.

By Ohio, I meant Ohio U. (the team that beat Michigan, that was seeded A LOT lower).

    Just thought I should clarify.

Upsets happen in the tourney. See Lehigh beating Duke, Norfolk state being Missoui etc...

  • They finished the year ranked nationally right around where they started it, so looking at this season as a whole I'd say they met expectations this year. Id say they overachieved just slightly in conference play. They did win a share of the conference but anyone who watched B1G play saw they weren't the best team in the conference. just a typical Belien team at Michigan as far as being undersized, still playing great defense, pulling the occasional upset with the help of a great home court advantage and coming out flat in some games against lesser opponents. There's been progression each year since he's been hired and I think despite the Ohio loss most UM fans are very optimistic with the direction of the program.

People put way too much weight into the early round exit. It happens every year. Cinderella teams come in more motivated and with more energy in that first game and higher seeds come in overlooking them. Do you think Missouri didn't have a great year because of one loss in the tourney? Its disappointing and you have to play your best basketball at this time but I don't think it should be the only barometer of success on a season. Because in all sports but especially college basketball, upsets can happen at any time. Any team can have a good or bad shooting night on any given game. They certainly underachieved in the tourney but I'm not ready to say this season was a disappointment by any means.

Were you upset by the coaches poll thing comment or that I wondered if you care about whether Hoke calls every school you guys play Ohio? I just wanted to avoid upsetting you again.

Not upset at all. Just not going to be led into a convo that has nothing to do with the original conversation i was having.

Nope. The preseason expectations of Michigan had nothing to do with Smot and the other guys transfering. Had nothing to do with Burke going Pro. Has nothing to do with team chemistry.

  • Oh definitely MSU. I always thought it was crazy that they weren't ranked in the preseason. A great coach at a perennial power of a program and an unquestioned senior leader than can carry a team almost always equates to a great season. Izzo really deserves the praise and accolades hes getting for this year. I saw their biggest downfall as being no reliable source for scoring and I think there's gonna be a defensive battle tonight as louisville has the same issues but you'd always rather have a team that struggles with offense than a team that struggles with defense. Good D will keep you in any game and that's why the B1G generally does well in the tournament.

When you say in one post you respect what the coaches say. Then we determine they had high expectations for Michigan , many believed they would make a deep run in the tournament but have a horrible last 5 of 7 games you don't think that that has anything to do with chemistry?

I explained my opinion on Michigan's team chemistry already. I find it hard to believe a team that won a Big Ten title had team chemistry issues.

I'm uneasy about this weekend. I saw some immaturity out of one major role player and a lot of mistakes against an inferior team last week. Izzo needs to tighten that up if we have a Chance

Even though Burke and Hardaway talked about it?

It doesn't have to be a predictor of success. It is possible that they didn't get along, and still won. It's also possible they could have performed better (say, for example in the BigTen Tournament and the NCAA Tournament).

Michigan had a horrible last 5-7 games? that's just not true. they lost to a very good purdue team in a close game. the OSU and Ohio losses were bad, I'll give you that. the rest were wins. it's all speculation as to the chemistry issues as none of us are in the locker room so to argue about it as if any of us know the real answer is futile. they had great senior leadership in stu and novak and seemed to be a veryyyy close team. but there were also guys a bit more concerned with their own games rather than the team. impossible to say what kind of impact that had on the team down the stretch but in no way do I think Belein didnt have control of the locker room.

You can respect the decision of coaches and still disagree with them.

I already answered that for you. I said i could see some chemistry issues as for as playing well together but i don't see chemistry issues as far as not liking each other. And i mean that more in the way of knowing where one another likes to shoot from, Where they like the pass to be, when he is going to cut to the basket and when he is going to pop out for the 3.

Can you clarify. Did they talk about having bad chemistry or did they talk about it because a journalist asked them a question and they answered it.
