Denard's statline Passing 20-20 for 700 yards and a whole crap load of TDs Rushing 10 rushes for 1000 yards and a whole crap load of TDs.

How is that for hyping and pumping?

I don't have a problem if you pump and hype, just don't try to hide it. Ducksworth tries to cover up all his pumping and hyping and then spews hate and endorses hate speech when challenged. One time only but +1 to you sir for owning up the hyping and pumping.

I like your way of thinking.

omg, did I just say that. I must really think Michigan is going to win by that score and Denard will put up those numbers. I better edit this out before steve sees it.

This is the second or third time you've tried to call me out for doing this, but as I've asked repeatedly with no answer, can you provide me with an example of when I did that?

EDIT: I mean the covering up the pumping and hyping. I totally admit to "spewing hate and endorsing hate speech." That you deserve.

I'm thinking two and a field goal. My score prediction is 35-17 shrug I'm ok with that

I meant one time only for owning up to hyping and pumping. I don't want other guys owning up to hyping and pumping just to get a +1 vote from me, they should do it for the right reasons.

Yeah I was surprised a couple of other UMers predicted more than 17 for NW.

Thanks for answering. Yeah the anomaly i was referring to was the SDSU game. That was pretty interesting about the yards per point stuff. I can live with 325.5 yards a game and our points against going up about 8 or 9 points a game for the rest of the year. If we were to give up 20 points a game average over the next 7 games we would finish out with like a 16.5 pts per game average. Sounds pretty darn good to me.

The other thing to take into consideration is defensive/special teams TDs. Those are going to inflate your offensive production (7 points with 0 yards gained), or, if they're against you, deflate your defensive production ( 7 points yielded despite giving up 0 yards).

You're +1/game in TO margin, which is great, but not unheard of. In otherwords, I don't think your D performance is totally predicated on forcing TOs, which bodes well for you in the future.

    Just to play with some #s . . . .

You've given up 41 points in 4 games (not counting the WMU game, of course). Just for some fun with #s . . . .

If your D gives up 20 PPG from here on out, you'll be at 16.45 PPG

If your D gives up 24 PPG from here on out, you'll be at 19.00 PPG

If your D gives up 27 PPG, you'll end up with 20.9 PPG

If your D gives up 30 PPG, you'll be at 22.8 PPG.

For some perspective, here's where those year end PPGs would rank in 2010:

    16.45 - 7th

    19.00 - 15th

    20.9 - 28th

    22.8 - 42nd

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

There is a strong correlation between yardage and points.

Look, MSU lost to ND by 18 points and gave up 31 points. They also gave up 275 yards of total O. If MSU continues to perform at that level of yardage D, I think the scoreboard will take care of itself, in favor of the Spartans. How many teams do you see give up under 300 yards of O and 31 points? It's not as though ND was moving the ball up and down the field at will.

I don't know the exact numbers, but please hear me out. Your yardage comments are true, but I read a lot of Football Outsiders. Yardage per attempt, whether passing or rushing is far more insightful than total yardage. Further, yardage between the 20s is important, but again not as meaningful as red zone yardage or total YPA. I know that is primarily focused on the pro game, but it should hold at both levels.
