    I'd choose olympics. If I was a football coach I'd ask and offer the kid if he could or would do both. I know you have to work hard but perhaps shot put is an event you could do both. I doubt it but maybe.

    I don't know. I think training for the olympics is like a 24/7 lifestlye thing. Turning down the olympics would be hard.

    I have no clue, I'm not a track guy so I don't know how good he is. I only know that this is the source of conflict in his recruitment.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    Former Baltimore Raven’s OT Jonathan Ogden did both at UCLA. Not sure if was ever as good as Norman, but it was a major reason why he picked UCLA because it was one of the only school’s willing to let him do both.

    I seem to recall RCR (or some other article) saying that we were looking for a total of 2 WRs. I'm not sure why we would, unless it's an elite guy. But that's what I remember reading.

    I'd have to hunt through the main recruiting thread; in his thread it says he's over 60' in shot.

    For me it would be impossible. My niece who is enrolling at um in medicine next fall is currently dating a um guy in the sports management program. He was offered a Tampa bay bucks internship this year. Two of 400 applicants to be offered. He turned them down to work wit the US Olympic committee in indianapoolis. We were at a family wedding in Chicago when he told me. He said he wanted me drunk and happy when he told me he turned down the NFL. I said I thought it was the best choice because of the world wide stature of such a job. ( I guess everyone who goes to um isn't a complete idiot).

    Sucks that Foster is completely out of the picture now (Even if he was barely in it). But Kilgore looks pretty impressive.

    Now that he has an internship with the U.S Olympic Committee it'll open up connections to every major sport, so that seems logical. Also, how does everyone who goes to UM constitute as an idiot? I thought your beef was with the "walverines", not the students/alumni.

  • I admittedly am not a track guy but even with the allure of the olympics, I can;t imagine turning a Big 10 football scholarship down to do shot put. Shot put just isn't that cool, ya know?

    To each his own though. I know the concept is foreign to us hardcore fans, but some people just don't like football.

    Aaaaaaand I'm an idiot, because MSU just picked up Jay Harris out of PA lol. Quite frankly I don't know how MSU fits another WR in the class, unless State's not taking a SS, or 1 fewer OL/DL than we thought. He's an AP type player, 5'10/5'11 170ish.
