Do you know what relevant means? It implies that it's results still matter today in determining opinion or guessing future results. lol

Well the Miss. State game has nothing to do with the current team. Does it count as a blowout loss in a bowl game? Absolutely. Does it mean anything for next years team? Nope.

And it was only brought up because someone brought up Alabama in 2010. Does it count as a blowout loss? Yes. Does it mean anything? Nope.

Neither does 1990s football for the MSU-UM series. Hoke is 0-1 against Dantonio, that's the only relevant thing.

I would disagree. 2010 was one of Dantonio's best MSU teams and he couldn't compete with a very good Alabama team. That gives me question as to whether or not Dantonio can ever put a team on the field that can compete with the best nationally.

I mean, yeah 2010 was his 2nd best team, 2011 was better though shrug

Doesn't change the validity of his post. It still remains unknown as to whether or not Dantonio's best team could have beaten the nation's elite.

His best team so far was in 2011. Could it have beaten an elite team? No. I don't consider Georgia an elite team, i thought they were a very good team, same as wisconsin. They can beat very good teams. I think they could be competitive with Elite teams such as Oregon if we made it to the rose bowl, I doubt we would win though.

MSU was not even a very good team in 2010, they were good. They got blown out of the water by an elite Bama team.

The thing is it's very hard to see in the B1G how teams can do against the elite teams, since there havent been many in the B1G the past few years. Michigan gets to see if it can hang with the elite teams this year, but MSU won't get that chance again in 2012 unless they can get to the Rose Bowl or even capital one.

I agree completely with what you said. I brought up the Bama game to compare the 2010 MSU FB team to this past seasons UM BB team, both teams that shared the title with two other teams and were exposed in the postseason and likely not as good as their fellow title-winners(or at least OSU in football). As you said, MSU was only a good team in 2010, needing spectacular plays to beat ND and NW(which I will give Dantonio credit for) and avoiding OSU, which proved to be the B1G's best that year. I think the 2011 was very strong despite slipping up at ND and Nebraska, and I think the 2012 team will be somewhere in between the two teams.

Never has been a big deal. It's when associate degree idiots or northern micigan idiots call a big ten degree inferior in some way. It's both funny and pathetic. So if you haven't followed, that's usually what it's about.

Personally, I don't give a shit who someone roots for and what team they are a fan of. However, when some douche that goes to CMU, Western, GVSU, or CC starts ragging on Michigan State academics and the university as a whole (calling it an inferior institution, moo u, can't read can't write, etc.) that's when I take issue. Root for whatever team you want I don't care where you went to school or if you went at all, but leave out the university as a whole.

You know, I hear that quite abit on here, MSU fans don't mind the fans, they hate those that trash the academics though. The interesting part of that claim is that it is extremely rare for a Michigan fan to talk about MSU academics and trash it, but is common for an MSU fan to bring up their own academics and trash anyone that didn't attend Michigan. It is like they have a romantic notion that attending MSU makes them a better person. I lmao at MSU fans complaints of Michigan grads doing the same thing.

In the end, it is just a childish thing thought up by guys sitting aroung drinking a beer. As most people know, you will find out that the ones claiming superiority over someone is the insecure one in most cases. The sad thing is, the guys that were like that have been some of the most miserable people I ever met.

Anyway, I couldn't care less why someone cheers for one school or another, be it falling in love with that team as a child or falling in love with that team as a teenager or falling in love with that team when they went to that school. Doesn't matter to me and has no impact on my life.

So I'm listening to sports radio and this subject is on and a caller is all pissed about being called a walmat wolverine. (It does seem to be the one phrase that sets um fans off-who knows why- same with Sparty, who cares) but this guy has called to say his buddies call him that "and they didn't even go to MSU!!"

I'm like lol. Can you imagine listening to those guys at a bar? It would be like watching two mentally challenged guys play chess.
