A little OT-damn this thing in CO has me so damn depressed right now. Literally sick to my stomach. This is gonna sound corny as hell, but lets get this issue with tBB done. Supporting such a worthy cause will be the beginning to turning my day around. It will feel good when this thing starts lighting up different boards.

Took the day off to golf, prior to going to the tigers game. Heard a 6yr old was confirmed killed in CO. Scrapping golf and picking my kids up from daycare. Gonna give them as much ice cream as they want, spoil the hell out of them before taking them to there 1st ballgame. Sorry for the OT rant.

The tragedy in CO has bummed me out as well. Pretty sad stuff.

  • Draft #2, just a few tweaks from Steve's last proposal.

Greetings 247/Noah/Lucky/whomever we address this to:

We, the undersigned, represent a sizeable contingent of the members of this site. Over the past year (months/weeks?), it has come to our collective attention that the flagship board of 247, the "Blue Board", has tolerated and continues to tolerate racist and homophobic language. We find this to be unacceptable. As paying members, frequent visitors and poster that are considering subscribing, we feel that we should have a voice in how our community is run.

This isn’t a superficial issue; it goes directly to how this site is viewed by the public, including recruits and prospective members. The Blue Board is the "face" of 247, and it reflects on our individual team sites as well. This site is dedicated largely to college football recruiting; that is, to the evaluation of the football talents of 16 and 17 year old kids. There is little doubt in our mind that those same 16 and 17 year old kids do read the posts on our team sites and it stands to reason that they're also reading the Blue Board.

With this in mind, we do not feel that racist and homophobic language is professional, and conveys to non-members that this is a second-rate site. Like it or not, recruits and coaches read these sites and use them to form opinions about fanbases. Our fanbases do not wish to be associated with bigotry and racism.

We believe 247Sports can and will be the most successful college recruiting site out there. We also believe that to achieve that stature, the site must be as inviting to outsiders as possible, and allow for a diverse community of posters. Allowing racist and homophobic comments brings nothing positive to the 247 community and serves only to push possible new members away.

Please take these words to heart and end the racist and homophobic dialogue on the Blue Board

    Very truly yours,

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Check out the animated gif of Fielder sliding into second. The guy is hauling ass!

I was at a sportbar eating lunch during that play. The whole place lit up, it was hilarious.

It really is, he's no Pete Rose with the head fist slide that's for sure. Check out Pete at the start of the video.

I still think the second paragraph reads best without the first sentence.

It's a joint effort between a lot of posters in this thread. What's heartening is the # of people who are willing to stand up to this crap, and not just let it slide. That's how change happens man, a group has to stand up and demand it.

So now what's the plan? Post this on every Big 10 board, ask them to just type "Agree", and link them to a thread on the Big 10 board that's dedicated to the discussion?

Agree, have posters maybe sign to it and if they feel inclined write Noah and JC to let them know they're fed up. I think as long as everyone is respectful in conveying their complaint to management it has a shot to change things.

Agreed. One of the problems I saw with how Intesity dealt with Noah is dropping F-bombs at Noah. Not exactly the best way to handle things, imo.

I agree, and IMO, the issue can't be framed in the context of a double-standard. That elevates the bannings of a few posters as the main issue, and one that's obviously ignored by Noah and others. That shouldn't be the main issue; it's that no matter what the other language policies on the board, racist/homophobic language should not be on this board. This isn't an effort to allow people to swear; even if tBB allowed people to drop F-bombs we would STILL have a problem with the racist/homophobic language.

I like framing it in terms of new members and how outsiders view the site. That's what really should matter to 247; getting more members and more readership. I think you have to tailor the issue to the audience; double-standard arguments don't bear any weight, so a new strategy is needed.

    Thoughts?

I think what xxmgobluexx and I'm saying is if people that are speaking to Noah are respectful when lodging this complaint it'll have more impact.

Not sure what incident xxmgobluexx was referring to but sounds like a poster named intensity was mouthing off to Noah which isn't a good way to get someone in management to listen to your issue.

I agree in not framing it on a double standard. Just keep it on point 'we don't want racism' on this site.

The swearing thing is an entirely different issue, should keep the wedge issues out of this imo.

It's probably going to head down that road sadly. Tickets to a movie in Manhattan are 15.00 and there's no matinee option I can only imagine what added security will do to the price. With Netflix, hi-def tv and 5.1 surround I rarely go to them anymore.

He went out the back door, propped it open, put on his outfit and then came back in from what I read.

I'm against banning costumes to be honest - the whole tradition started with Rocky Horror Picture Show. Add security if you have to, but going to movies should be fun. I think Nolan nailed it when he said "I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. "

Also, for the record - no I have never worn a costume to a movie.

Yeah but if you listen to most of the witnesses, they said they thought it was something the theater was doing to promote the movie. they thought it was part of the show.

Getting back to the animosity between our schools: we said earlier how MSU/ Delaney don't have a cozy relationship like UM/Delaney do. Let's just use delaney's power grab and the comments of Izzo bs Brandon to see if there's a difference in which the schools act towards the BIG office. You guys read their comments and tell me I'm crazy.

    I don't like it either.
