It was successful under the circumstance. Nowhere near where I want Michigan to be; unfortunately with the way our roster is presently I don't think Michigan will be there for another two or three years. Until the lines are beefed up they won't be where I want them to be.

Now you like the Heat? Are you just a bandwagon fan of any team that is supposed to do well? You want me to give you pictures from some games this year?

Wish there was a decent way to attach pictures LARGER THAN 1 censored MB!

    This work?

How the hell do you put pictures on this crappy place that happen to be more than 1 MB?

I like LBJ, so yes I am cheering for the Heat while my lowly Raptors sit at home. Gotta cheer for someone in the playoffs.

Bills, Jays, Leafs, and Raps sounds like a bandwagon. Great teams with great recent history.

Well I was trying to post pictures from the opening, but this site sucks ass. Being from tRCMB though, what I just said usually ends up in a permaban from some dude that feels self righteous.

Surprised you'd think freshman LB or DE would step up. MSU has solid depth in both positions. I'm thinking WR or DT.

WR for obvious reasons, MSU needs players to step up to fill 3 vacancies. But also because MSU has some solid WR recruiting the past 2 years, (RS Fr and Fr classes)

DT is a slightly different story. First, MSU has a huge hole to fill with Worthy's departure. But here's another reason: while I think White is good, I do recall him losing the starting position to Pickleman last year. Here too, MSU has some young talent waiting to step in.

    Hey Spartan Rock,

Remember this discussion from about two weeks ago?

I did hear Sims Jr. (RS Fr) stepped up at WR in the spring game.
Also heard that the defense was outstanding. But ARW? According to the stat's, finished last on Team-Green's defense. That said, not sure any DT was a standout - yes/no? Maybe Hoover...

White was double teamed most of the day, which allowed Gholston and Gainer to make some nice plays. Hoover made the most plays out of any DT. One thing I noted was the # of batted passes early on; State's has multiple 6'5 + guys they can rotate through front line, including Gholston, Hoover, Calhoun, Reynolds and Heath. Marcus Rush looked good, as did Heath.

Heath and Gainer looked the best out of the back-up DEs; Calhoun did nothing of note. Reynolds picked up 1.5 TFL, so it'll be interesting to see if he can be the 4th DT in the rotation. Kittredge looked like a guy who has quite a bit of upside as well.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that MSU's top QB, top 2 WR's and top 2 RBs did not play. Ok, well, Fowler got in for 2 snaps, Caper had a carry and I think Bell had 2, but for all intents and purposes they were not participating. All in all, the game went as expected.

I think Sims Jr. will be playing this fall, along with Mumphrey. Arnett will get in if he's cleared. Would have been nice to see what Fowler and Lippett could have done; the only DBs who were actually challenged were the RS FR CBs.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Joel Heath and Shilique Calhoun both played well at DE, and Darien Harris played solidly at LB. So while Sims definitely looked impressive, I think the DE/LB expectations were well placed.

As for ARW, I want to comment on the post that you quoted; ARW was injured, he didn't lose his starting position due to performance issues. So while your overall argument may hold water, that particular point is fairly irrelevant in my opinion.

With regards to the spring game, it is true that ARW did not have a stand out game. He absolutely needs to play better than that come the fall, but I think that there is reason to believe he will. The key with the spring game is taking it all with a grain of salt. Sparty had a carry for crying out loud, I don't know that statistical analysis is appropriate with everything considered.

I have only watched the 1st quarter, does the offense get any better?

You know I was joking about the Maxwell being a china doll, but if he actually went down, I would panic if I was an MSU fan, from what I have seen so far.

I didn't really expect much from Cook. First half was pretty atrocious, but he actually settled down in the second half, made some nice passes to Gleichert and a TD to Andre Sims.

Obviously you can't draw any conclusions. Also during the real seasons, OL wouldn't be split up and we'd be using our top backs and WRs.

Also...that defense...drool There were redshirt freshmen making plays all over the place, and we didn't even have Dennard or Norman playing.

    Macks

  • Johnny Adams had a nice catch. Surprised to see him at WR but he may get time on both sides I the ball.

I couldn't tell if the OL stunk on nice or it the D is just that dominant. The safety by Gholson was just a terrible play by the OT.

There's not much to take away from the O other than Hill having some nice runs.

September can't get here soon enough.

This. Can't read into spring games at all really. You can watch some individual players but that's it.

OL is going to take some time to gel as always. DL should be pretty good though. One great thing about having an awesome defense is that the offense undergoes trial by fire.

I just always laugh when UM fans give reasons as to why they're UM fans. Sometimes it's something simple like they went there for an education. That's somewhat rare though. Most of the time it's some bogus story about how their aunt once lived in Ann Arbor years ago or how they like the uniforms or they like the stadium. Something like that, I get a kick out of it.

I just want to make sure that you are being fair, and you insult every person 17 yrs old and younger that is wearing msu swag. Cause clearly the have no right to wear it being that they dont have a degree, and have no right to cheer for the spartans. I mean the nerve of any child not attending msu, to actually put spartan gear on and cheer for them, you must be so insulted. You, and any other spartan douche that ever brings up the walverine topic, can stop pretending that your basketball program isnt well on its way to being what uofm's football program is, a fanbase comprised mostly of non graduates. My only pet peeve worse than spartan fans using the walverine slogan, is uofm fans that have ever used, or continue to use, the lil bro slogan. Both slogans r as ignorant as those that use them. Congrats on being the most worthless poster on here, since nigels departure.

I don't really care about teenage kids that wear sports gear. I interact with a total of 2 teenagers. Some random kid on here named maizeandblue and then my g/f's little sister when we're in town or when she's visiting. That's it.

I just don't have much respect for the Wal*Marters. You do what you gotta do in life to get by, but if you didn't attend college at UM and you want to shit on my school, that's when we have problems. Unfortunately, there are many of these types in the UM fan base.

I agree with you so +1. There is poster on here by the name of Star69 who seems like good people but grew up in Indiana and is a Notre Dame football fan and a Indiana basketball fan. Sadly, the state of Michigan is becoming exactly like that. There is a large group of people now who root for Michigan football and then switch over and root for Michigan State basketball. Any measure of sustained success will bring the bandwagon element.

+1 for a respectable response. I dont see myself as a typical "walmarter", cause I dont look at "my" team through goggles. Never will I trash a spartan for going there, nor will I trash it as an institution. I respect anyone w a degree, regardless of where its from. I will however talk trash w any spartan fan when it comes to sports:)

it doesnt take 'book smarts' to go to college these days. It takes a decent work ethic, a minimal amount of effort, an enough smarts to actually graduate from high school without being in special education classes.....that said, if you didnt go to college, no one really cares. you dont need anything more than a high school education and hard work to survive. but your obvious need to justify it as 'oh well uh, i have, uh....street smarts! yea thats right, street smarts' just reeks of stupidity
