Who is that is your sig on the far right ?

Keith Werman. Greatest second baseman of all time. That's him in the avatar pic as well. My kid picked out my sig pics.

  • Joe, do you follow UVA baseball closely?

Ha I thought so, I grew up with his older brother Kyle

    Incredible baseball family

Dad was my all star coach one year

Keith was only 6 when I met him and he could already switch hit and get this..... switch throw a ball too

Incredible, if they had the size both of them would be in the MLB right now

Ha! That's great. Werm is a God in my household. My daughter wears #2 on the soccer field and my son would literally try and fight someone if they tried to take #2 from him. His first T-Ball coach said to me, "Big Jeter fan?" Um no, Keith Werman. He also gets mad anytime he can't play 2nd base.

Keith actually signed a free agent deal with the M's and had a pretty solid summer. He got off to a really hot start out in Arizona before cooling off. He was then sent to Pulaski where he hit something like .360 and was promoted right at the end of the year. The chances of him ever making it to the show are miniscule but you really can't ever rule Werm out. He's the epitome of competitor.

HNB, yeah. I probably follow that program as much as I do football. (and lately it's been a lot more fun.)

Ill never forget the first time I saw Keith switch hit, cause even though he was 6 he looked like he was 3

Craziest thing I have seen a kid that age do in regards to sports

I can't even tell people the story cause they wouldn't believe me and just think Im some lying dickhead

  • My uncle works with a few of the 757 kids you have that come your way, including the SS. He works with lots, not just UVA.

I coach my 7 yo, I have 2 kids this year that are switch hitting, one is pretty good the other I have doing it because he is/was a great hitter but has a hitch in his swing and is 2 feet late on every thing lefty...hitting from the other side has helped him simplify and is working. Baseball is finally fun at this age, but being the coach pitching is stressful as hell. And it takes my mind off of horrible football.

No kidding, I'm so glad to be done with TBall and my little guy was over it last season. He got to the point where he didn;t want to make a throw to first because he'd hurt too many kids and hitting was no fun because our league only allows station to station baserunning. So a gapper to the fence and he's staying at first and looking at me like "WTF?" He's a young 5 but he hangs with the 7 and 8 year olds in our neighborhood without a problem so he's begging to play kid pitch in the spring although I think he's still too small/young.

Does your uncle coach or just work kids out?

Yeah, we were beggng his Dad for one more son during the regionals last year but it looks like we're going to have to wait a few years. Outstanding family. It'll definitely be very strage not having a Werman at 2b this year.

Uncle does a little but of both, he's a paid instructor but only does it on the side, but not for any program. He just loves the game.

In our Pinto league the 6 yo can try out for the coach pitch, we split Pinto into 2 divisions, the older Divisions is all 7-8 year olds with the younger being 6-7 year olds with some 8's that are more challenged. It has really helped to develop kids, mine was 6 last fall and spring and is light years a head of where he would be if he was just in the station to station league. We had 6 6 year olds and 5 7's on our team last year so this year will be fun with them playing together again. We did fallball with the same kids and it was actually a lot of fun, more like real baseball...as much as can be expected while still knowing they are little kids.

  • When parents get involved in the recruiting process is an interesting topic for your board. We've had our share over the years and you all too, but the timing with one you currently have makes it odd timing. I'm all for parents doing what's best but I think it's best that they remain in the background on message boards...heck we've had at least one every year I can remember.

Yeah, can definitely be interesting. AS far as recruits and players. I always try to think about comments and who is watching.

I have pissed off more than a few parents in my day, we have had many post on the boards over the years and Im very vocal about how they shouldn't get involved

Dante Fowler's dad was a die hard Nole fan and actually got into it with people saying his son wouldn't sign with FSU

Biggest joke of a dad I have ever seen, dude was retarded

And yeah I don't know what to expect this thursday man, Im nervous

Very true. We are fortunate enough to have reached a level of sucking in which we have nothing to gain, nothing to lose, and no reason to care. In fact, I think a lot of our fans feel a whooping at home on Thursday night could help our cause greatly as far as coaching changes.

We are like the ai quaida of college football. we can go batshit crazy thursday night and and the worst thing that could happen is you kill us and we get like 72 virgin offensive coaches to tryout.

I don't think the Godfather has been in this thread since week 2....like many on both sides that hide when the going is tough...those in here this year on both sides are the "real" fans that can talk the talk in any situation.

I have my Election Day bets ready! VA, NH, Ohio...hoping to make a few bucks today.
