Times are not changing our recruiting classes the last 2 years have been better than yours. Plus we have redshirted most of our class while UVA has burned your guys R/S for no reason.

This has really devolved and its ridiculous that its entering the political realm now. To get back to the topic of whether or not UVA is on the rise and it is affecting Tech I will say this, UVA has drastically improved recruiting since London arrived. Tech has remained steadily solid as well. One of the points I saw raised on the UVA board is not necessarily that UVA is whooping up on tech in recruiting, in fact its fairly even, rather that UVA's recent success in recruiting comes at the direct expense of Tech. UVA essentially abandoned the state under Groh, and tech was able to get every good player in the state that wanted to stay local, thats HUGE. These days UVA is picking up a good deal of talent and it is reducing the depth and talent level of Tech. Tech is still a very good and talented team however Mike London is bad for business in that he is reducing the pool of talent Tech has available. All gameday coaching aside its a real pleasure to get free reign to your entire state and if you look back to groh's last couple years tech had it in the bag. I think this year demonstrated some of techs growing deficiencies and depth was a primary one. Furthermore I think London erased the anti-uva stigma that groh created within the state and I think that will have a lasting effect. Whether or not UVA beats tech in the next five years or not, they have made life more difficult for VT and the coaching staff to compete for the ACC or nationally. I also think UVA recruits pretty well in the northeast and in maryland and has a growing presence in NC. VT does alright nationally as well but that is going to need to improve to counteract the growing recruiting power struggle in VA.
