  • For the record even though I think 5284 is a prick, I still think Pep would be a homerun hire for VT. Hell he causes us fits in N. Va already at Stanford one could only imagine what he could do recruiting for a school 4 hours away.

You have no clue what Pep is paid now, nor what he will get elsewhere. Unless this is Dashawns uncle telling you this again, he was dead on last time.

As far a Dashawn Hand is concerned, so what if he's more interested in VT than UVA. If he doesn't commit to play at VT it doesn't make a shit if your 2nd or 10th. It will take a small miracle like you guys playing for a National Championship to make him really consider playing in the ACC. You don't have to keep calling him his Uncle. I've talked to him again, his uncles name is Donald Hand he doesn't care who knows. Your more than welcome to check with your sources to make sure. Yep it is the same Donald Hand that played PG at UVA in the 1990's.

  • Hoo's, if you bring in TOB is this a one year turn over from London to TOB? And that would be an odd situation for London to have a guy that is clearly a much better coach standing over him.

Seems to me TOB can sit back and collect State's money and be in good position to get the UVA head coaching gig next year if he wants it....unless he wants to stick it to State and doesn't want to sit at home and spend time with his wife for a year.

I think they would consider bringing in OB in to help London's development, I don't see it as an over the shoulder wondering if he was going to lose his job. I think this would be a homerun hire if they could pull it off. That and the possiblity of bringing in Dana Bible as well shocked me this morning.

As I said, Bud will make over 750k a year from 2009-2014, when bonuses are factored in. If youd like to put some money up, ill take any bet youd like that his average income from VT per year is over 750k from 2009-2014.

You have no clue what Pep is paid now, nor what he will get elsewhere. Unless this is Dashawns uncle telling you this again, he was dead on last time.

FWIW I dont expect Pep at VT anyways, though id be thrilled with the hire.

Pep made over 600k last year at Stanford. I know that for a fact.

All these coaching rumors are beyond bizarre to me. I can't get my head around Pep wanting to leave an incredible situation in Palo Alto where he works for a great guy that has loads of long term potential and job security any moreso than I can figure out why Obie at 65 years old would want to come be an Associate Head Coach. Love his personality or hate it, he's won a lot more than he's lost and runs a clean program. There are head coaching jobs out there for guys like that.

I'm sure Hamilton has job security and Stanford is a great university but it's no secret Shaw will likely stay there for a very long time. Also, add in the fact Shaw is an offensive guy, I'm sure he has his say with regards to calling plays etc... I don't think it's a stretch to think Hamilton wouldn't consider coming to Blacksburg and being THE man on offense. It's two hours from home, about 4 hours from DC......the cost of living in Palo Alto is almost double that of Blacksburg (so his $600K translates to a little more than $300K) and the median cost for housing in Palo Alto is 5 times more than Blacksburg. From a career standpoint, Hamilton knows that Beamer is near the end of his career so it's far more likely he could succeed Beamer as HC....contrast this to the situation at Stanford. Unless Shaw were to leave, which is unlikely, Hamilton would have to go somewhere else anyway to become a HC.

As far as TOB is concerned, maybe he'd rather step away from being the HC for now and take on more of a supporting role where he doesn't have to field questions from boosters, the media etc...a little less stressful.

Hahaha so bringing in a coach to coach up the crappy coach that you have...sounds like a plan to me.

I used to make trips to my buddy's place in Franklin County. They had the best White Whiskey. When the shine was in, the clothes where drying on the clothes-line under their front porch. They would keep the clothes on the line through rain/sleet/snow until the batch was gone. They used to make a special "tea" too.. Man I miss that stuff, but alas, I get drug checked sick

It's UVA's decision, I just said I supported it. Yeah it's sounds so crazy it might just work. It's no secret he's made some questionable decision at times, I don't think having O'Brien on the sideline will hurt. That's what I meant about developing London.

If London is so poor of a coach that he needs TOB to come in and coach him up, why wouldn't you just fire London and make TOB the HC? Seems much more logical to me.

Sorry I edited the earlier post and tried to explain in a little more detail. Maybe he can keep London's emotions more in check on the sideline.

Also TOB has a non compete where he can't be an ACC coach until 2015. But from what I have seen he is working on a buyout on that part of his NC State contract.

It's pretty funny...but it isn't a bad idea, unless you are London and you realize that you need a coach to be a coach. But he likely has been put on notice by being made to fire 4 coaches, that he obviously didn't agree with...and you do what you need to do to keep getting paid 2.6 million a year for a job you are not qualified for....and if he was qualified they wouldn't need a coach for him.

The entire UVA program could learn a lot from TOB if they are willing to do what he knows is the right thing, and will likely tell them...that is not promising PT, RS kids when they should be, not burning bridges to get one recruit. TOB would be an interesting hire because he will say it like it is and not get a F, don't like it, fire me, he doesn't need the money and could get another job when ever he wants it.

  • Some of you act like London can't coach a lick, that's not true, he's made his mistakes but he's also made some good decisions as well. The one thing about London that concerns me though is not owning up for the mistake he made in Blacksburg by not using his timeouts and forcing the field goal earlier. I was pretty sure he was going to make the FG regardless but at least would have loved to have 1:05 to try and either tie it back up. Him saying the talent gap was closing at the end of a game he could have won had he coached it better bothered me quite a bit. I would have much rather him take the blame himself and that it be a lesson learned. Who knows if those thoughts have changed since the end of that game to now. i sure hope so.

Even Les Miles was screaming at the tv for London to call a timeout.
