I laugh when people compare Franks first three years to ML's.. VT was independent, UVA has been in the ACC. ML did not take over a nonexistent program.

My point is, ML is not a good coach, and its obvious.

The funny thing is the UVA fans always leave off the most important part of Beamer's first years. They have never mentioned that their victories were over scholarship REDUCED VT teams. Once VT recovered from the NCAA it was back to beating UVA as usual.

Great you all have been better at football over the last 10 years. Congrats. UVA has had the better athletic program for over 100 years. Argue that.

That is true. This is also a football board. Argue that. Go support your tennis and lacrosse success on those boards since everyone cares and all...Oh yeah, they don't have boards for that cause nobody does care.

OK, VT has been better for a heck of a lot longer than 10 years, 9-1 the last 10, 7-3 the decade before, 23-13 since 1980.

So really VT has been better at football for 30 years, and that includes all Welch's years, VT on scholarship reduction, VT as an independent. UVA was far superior over a century ago, 1895-1905 UVA ruled winning the first 8 and being 8-1.

So in the last 100 years VT leads 52-29, and UVA's best stretch in those 100 years was when WW2 decimated VT, UVA was 8-1-1 from 41-52.

How are you going to use that arguement? Back when they were on REDUCED scholarship's you could give out 105 a year. So they still were able to give out 15 more than what's allowed today of only 85.

Still at a disadvantage over others.

  • I'd like to get the conversation back on track. Admittedly both teams were down this year albeit VA tech was down far more than usual. That said both teams have a ton of room for improvement next year with a lot of returning players, good incoming classes and for UVA, some new well respected coaches. Which team improves more next year? I dont know if I see VT returning to 10 win form so I'd say I see VT pulling 8-9 wins and uva with 7-8.

I think we can get back to 10 wins next season.. This team will be better period.. If we sign an OC that knows his ass from his hand we will be a "good" football team. The Defense will be Very good imo if Exum stays for his senior year.

UVA I really don't know yall are bi-polar one game you play good the next game look like trash.. All depends on if London can get his shit together as a game-day coach. ill say 5-7 wins for UVA next year. Won't really know until they finalize the schedules.

  • I think UVA is better with TOB, but I think he makes them better over a longer period rather than a one year turn around, your season will depend largely on 2 things, your QB, and will the D be any good. I don't think anyone knows much about the QB spot because he was new last year and had little time to learn, and will Lazor even be there? D, who do you all lose?

  • Sooooooooooo

  • only lose greer, reynolds and Will hill from starters but hill was rotating heavily by the end of the season with braithwhite. I agree it will come down to the qb position which is hopefully settled. However I do see our defense being able to really keep us in most of the games we play next season so if our qb plays half decent we should be at least good enough to make it to a bowl. Curious how you see tech improving so much next season when there were so many question marks this season beyond the O coordinator. Logan is a tremendous athlete but really showed his limitations with a porous Oline. Your D should be stout but dont you lose some guys?

Just off the top of my head.. We lose Hopkins DT(who was just not the same after his Knee injury) and Bruce Taylor...

I think that is who we lose for the entire 2 deep.

  • I am looking forward to 10 wins next year because of a couple of things.
    1. Logan being coached by a competent qb coach
    2. Defense looking like it did in the last half of the year
    3. Offensive coordinator that can take advantage of what the defense is giving them (haven't picked on a replacement player for the opposing defense that I can recall with stinespring)
    4. No more titty dancing on the o-line. I think we will see an offensive line that matches our overall offensive philosophy much better.

Both of those guys were shadows of themselves pre injury. Having Bruce and Jack playing LB killed us, they weren't fast enough to cover the way we need LB's to cover in VT's D. If Edwards is back to 100% we upgrade at LB in a pretty big way. The biggest lose on our D is Tweedy, and he didn't even start.

    HNB

  • Also I wonder what position Shane O Mac will be moved to coach, looks like Pep may want to bring his own RB coach in if he takes the job.

I'm hoping he was wrong...and with VT's history, no one thought we would do what it takes to make this one happen, we have never gone out and gotten someone like this.

Not done, but it seems that there is real interest on both sides.

Yeah, still skeptical. I know they are meeting, but meeting is a long way from signing on the dotted line.

A HR it certainly would be
