Pretty much exactly what he was telling me, and he was an alumni so he was going into detail about a lot of shit and it was a very interesting conversation

He talked about their offense being very appealing to kids as well, I know nothing about them but it sounded like some kind of Leach offense or " pass happy/scores a bunch of points " type shit

ODU fans may be the most delusional fanbase you come across. They seriously think they will be on VTs level within 3 years. They call in the local sports radio all the time, and it is hilarious just how delusional theyre. Wait until they play a semblance of a 1A schedule.

  • I like the move by UVA, much better to schedule Oregon than some directional school. UVA has nothing to lose in the game, and Oregon will be breaking in a new staff.

Should also help get the stadium over 35k fans

thats pretty much every fan base. every year UVA will beat tech, every year tech will be a NC contender, UNC will get every recruit they go after, etc etc.

Yeah way to schedule Alabama next year and then 3 other cupcakes to your schedule for OOS. ESPN is already saying you guys have the easiest schedule in the ACC next year even with opening up with Alabama.

  • We are close to signing a home and home with Alabama for the 2014-15 seasons. Will open up with the Chik Fil A kickoff game with Auburn at this time unless they don't get back up in the SEC or it could change to another SEC team in 2015. Have a home and home with UCLA in both 2014-15 as well. We aren't scared to schedule big teams and will earn our way to a bowl game not by beating 4 weak teams almost every year OOC.

  • 2015 OOC schedule right now unless something falls through with the Alabama home and home, we will play At UCLA Auburn in Atlanta and Alabama at home. Why wouldn't the top recruits want to play big boy teams like that.

The location is intriguing though, I totally agree they won't do anything right away

And the dude i was talking to made it seem like he figured it would take a decade or so

I would be worried if I was a VT fan though, take Miami for example

Even with the threat of sanctions and being terrible for going on ten years+ now, we still can't beat them for big time Miami kids cause of location

Now its obviously different cause they have a history but location is a huge role a lot of the time

This is smart imo, you have no hope for being a good team so you might as well be on TV getting your ass whipped than not be on TV getting your ass whipped

That way you can tell recruits, see kids... at least we are on TV, we might totally suck... but all of america will get to watch you embarrass yourself in a UVA uniform roflmao

We play Alabama, Ohio State, Wisconsin all in the up coming years...

We've played many top notch programs. You guys schedule cupcakes too, so stfu with your "look who we schedule bs". In the past couple seasons UVA has scheduled the powerhouses of: Richmond (twice), VMI, Eastern Michigan, William & Mary, Indiana, LA Tech, & Southern Miss.

So lets not act like you guys have an SEC schedule every year...

#1 on recruit's wish list, going somewhere they can get embarrassed on national TV and be a punching bag for a top team.

We play at least one tough team OOC every year, look at VT's last 10 schedules and see how many years they played 4 cupcakes they knew they would beat. That's part of the reason IMO you guys can't win the big game, play better competition early in the year and get some true experience for later in the year. I never said we don't schedule easy games I was just stating we don't do it for every game of our OOS schedule.

No you don't play a tough team OOC every year.

    2004- Temple (2-9), Syracuse (6-6), Akron (6-5)
    2005- Temple (0-11), Syracuse (1-10), W. Michigan (7-4)
    2006- Wyoming (6-6), W. Michigan (8-5), ECU (7-6), Pitt (6-6)
    2007- Wyoming (5-7), Pitt (5-7), Mid Tenn, UConn (9-4)
    2008- USC (12-1), Richmond (13-3), UConn (8-5), ECU (9-5)
    2009- William & Mary (11-3), TCU (12-1), Indiana (4-8), Southern Miss (7-6)
    2010- USC (8-5), Richmond (6-5), VMI (3-8), E. Michigan (2-10)
    2011- William & Mary (5-6), Indiana (1-11), Southern Miss (12-2), Idaho (2-10)
    2012- Richmond (8-3), TCU (7-6), Penn State (8-4), La Tech (9-3)

The only decent teams UVA has played were USC (2x), TCU (great in 2009, terrible in 2012), and Penn State (whose kicker missed 4 FGs). In those 4 games, UVA only beat Penn State.

Ok, so we cant beat the "big boys" and you guys cant beat anyone. What is your point?

We dont schedule cupcakes for every OOS opponent either. So im not sure what your point is? Every school in the country plays 2,3,4 crap games some seasons. Every single program....

So to point out VT as being some exception is complete crap.

And in that same time frame we have played

    USC - National Champ
    WVU
    WVU
    LSU- National Champ
    Nebraska
    Alabama - National Champ
    Nebraska
Boise State - Ranked in top 5

I have never seen fans more delusional. UVA always has tough ooc opponents and VT never does? It is not remotely true, and like everything else UVA, is completely based on the future. Going to schedule Bama, Auburn, UCLA, in the same season. Please, there is zero chance that is going to happen. UVA schedules much harder OOC opponents, based entirely on the opponents to claim they will schedule in the future.

  • Strength of schedule for VT:
    2011-2012 48 5 ranked teams (Clemsonx2, GT, UVA, UMich)
2010-2011 5 4 ranked teams (BSU, NCSU, UM, FSU, Stanford)
2009-2010 25 4 ranked teams (Alabama, Nebraska, UM, GT)
    2008-2009 35 4 ranked teams (FSU,Maryland,BC,Cinci)
    2007-2008 12 6 ranked teams (LSU,Clemson,BC,UVA,BC,Kansas)
    2006-2007 21 3 ranked teams (GT,Clemson,Wake Forest)
2005-2006 28 4 ranked teams (GT, BC, UM, Louisville)
    2004-2005 1 5 ranked teams (USC,WVA,UVA,UM,Auburn)
    2003-2004 24 2 ranked teams (Pitt,UM)

In the poor SOS years they had big OOC games cancelled or postponed.

The schedule over the past 4 years would have looked better if teams like Auburn, Wisconsin, Illinois and Syracuse hadn't canceled on us. VT was supposed to play Kansas St next year but they backed out.

VT vs Cam would have been great.
