The SEC needs to be flagged for soft schedule

  • Texas Lion said...

They've set up this self-fulfilling prophecy, where the excuse for the pathetic OOC is that they don't want to get too banged up for the SEC. Then SEC play comes around and they lose a game or three, and their argument is "we'll it's because the SEC is so much harder than every other conference." Nobody can prove otherwise because nobody has played an SEC team OOC.

Saban and Les are the only guys with enough cojones to schedule a tough OOC opponent, but the other schools ride the coat tails and wave the banner of the SEC.

    Gets annoying after a while.

every year for the last 6, and 8 of the last 14 no one has stepped up and beat the SEC when it mattered.

If the SEC isn't a great conference, then there's not a single one in CFB. Certainly not the big 12

When was the last time a big ten team did anything? It must be annoying to see the sec talked about being the best and all Penn State is talked about is just anything connected to Sandusky. The big ten is a joke also.

Why don't we look at the B1G scheduling for a moment compared to the SEC.

8 out of 14 SEC teams plays/played an OOC game against a team that is currently ranked in the BCS top 25, with one of teams playing 2. That's over half.

5/12 B1G teams do the same with 2 playing 2. That is less than half that played what we could call a tough OOC opponent or at least against someone currently ranked.

Also, not counting the SEC teams that are ranked in the top 25, the SEC has played 8/19, or 42% of the remaining teams in the top 25 of the BCS poll in OOC games.

The B1G has played 5/23 or 22% of the teams ranked in OOC games.

  • We will see just how tough the SEC is tomorrow since four of the teams play teams that or either on their level or the other team is better. Wake plays Vandy(both are evenly matched and are typical doormats in the conference, but have looked better recently). Florida plays FSU(both teams are about even, but FSU has a better offense while the special teams and defense are a push). Georgia plays Georgia Tech (If Georgia cannot stop Techs offense it will be tough. plus both teams have another game the next week against tough opponents, so they could be resting some players) South Carolina plays Clemson(this game is similar to the Florida and FSU matchup except that South Carolina has the defense while Clemson has the offense.

the SEC isn't great this year, but neither is anyone else. UF isn't as good as their ranking, but similar to ND, there's no one else to put there. hopefully FSU doesn't choke

    Vandy crushes Wake.
FSU beats Florida in what looks like a close game, but is a 10-13 point never truly in doubt.
Georgia beats Tech pretty handily after pulling away in the 2nd half. I'd say 17-20 points.
Clemson edges SCar, although this is the game I could see going either way. Although Clemson has a bad defense, no Lattimore makes SCar's offenses pretty stale at times, which could be bad news against Boyd, Hopkins, and Watkins.

Is Clemson not tough? South Carolina plays them. Auburn played them. What about FSU and UF?

Did your team face 4 teams in the BCS top 11 with 3 on the road? Mine did and 3 of those games were in consecutive weeks. Reality is people outside the conference have to over dissect things and look at just the ooc games to find fault. I guess it makes you feel better. You play your entire schedule, not just subsets. Your team doesn't want to play my team's schedule.

  • FSU's OOC opponents in 2013 are the Wofford Terriers and the Nevada Wolfpack.

In 2014, they play the Citadel.

Can't blame WVU for that happening...

You say that, but your OOC consisted of East Carolina, UAB, and Wofford. Yes, you're 9-2, but who knows how somebody else would do with your schedule because you didn't play anybody in the OOC portion of your schedule.

I don't think USCe is a bad team, but how can I prove you're not overrated if you don't play any teams OOC?

I find it very funny that you left off top #10 Clemson, who we play every year OOC. Did you play a top #10 OOC game on the road this year?

Also, "we don't know how other teams would do with our schedule?". I know most are losing at least 2 games. In the last 6 weeks we played #3, #4, #7, and #11. 3 of the 4 on the road.

Ohio Virginia navy temple. Clemson is tougher than all of these teams.

And you guys play a down Miami team every year, so I don't know why you brought them into it.
