The Ten Best Classes- right now

Goldman would take it to another level.

My thing with FSU's DL class is it fills every need and position. Now I know FSU fans will jump me, but I see Mario Edwards as a 305-310-pound DT pretty quick in college. Having watched his body develop in Texas the last couple of years, he is 285 right now and on his way to being a bad mother 300+ pound three-T IMO.

Casher and Fowler at the DE spots, Edwards, Stuckey and Shanks at DT. That five is just silly to me.

Im not one of those fans...i agree 100% MEJ would really be a great addition as a DT rather than a DE. His skill set is predicated on bull rushes to get upfield and that sounds like ur ideal DT.

    Good call

  • The scary good thing for us FSU fans is the fact that this DL class was preceeded by a group including Timmy Jernigan, Derrick Mitchell, Nile Lawrence Stample, and Gio Newberry.

Create your own 3 deep based on where Edwards ends up, and you're looking a a filthy bunch in 2013 or so.

  • Has A&M peaked in the rankings? Outside of Shittu and Devall I don't see them considering anyone else

Not sure A&M has peaked yet. I think Matt Davis and Corey Thompson are two commits that could continue to move up the national rankings. Davis could end up cracking the top 100.

In terms of impact type commits on a future team ranking, I think you are likely correct, but the Aggies have 3-4 spots left too IMO.

Jimbo has stressed he wants a top DL... And as u know all who have won titles in the past has had a dominant DL.

What about FSU? Things have been pretty quiet on the recruiting front since Winston's pledge...is there cause for concern or are the Noles waiting for the next domino to fall? Who would that next commit possibly be?

    mrb1986

  • I believe we can end up in the top 10 by Feb. as long as we wrap it up with a commitment by 4 star reciever canaan severin and a couple more 3 star recruits. Things are DEF looking bright in Hooville...its about time....

We only have 2-4 spots left and we are waiting on some NSD guys...

    Andus Peat
    Eddie Goldman
    Nelson Agholor
    Josh-Harvey Clemons
    Tracy Howard

Those are pretty much the only guys left on our board IMO and we will just wait on them.

I hope 3 of those end up at UF. Were supposedly looking good at this point cheers

    Didn't ND sign 3, 5* DE's last year?

Aaron Lynch wasnt a 5* according to some sites, can't remember what 247 had him ranked. Think a few missed on that one. So, yea we landed three 5*. Williams is now an OLB.

I know UF looks good for Agholor and Howard...who is the 3rd? Clemons? Can't be Peat or Goldman...

I think any of Texas, FSU, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan and Notre Dame have solid shots to end top 5 with Texas and FSU about locks if they sign every committed kid as of today. Alabama would be my third closest to a lock because I'm never surprised if Saban inks a full class.

Having fun with this discussion, my best guess for top 6 by February is FSU, Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame, Florida and Auburn.

So many key guys still out there to make decisions.

Answered my question without me having to ask it. Was wondering how far you could see ND moving up. We are are believed to be in great shape with 5* Jarron Jones and have 4-5 5* visiting for the USC game. Plus Cyrus Jones is back in the picture. Believe our ranking will be hurt with us not signing a QB.

  • I believe Michigan's class has basically peaked. Sure there's a shot at a couple of top-rated talents but they'll most likely round out the last 4-5 spots with solid 4* talent. Most likely locking up a top 7 class.

I think FSU is on some big fish that will play out for a while.

Look for 1-2 OL, 1 CB and 1 LB as possibles with a guy like Eddie Goldman being the wild card.

  • Where would you guys have USC? 10 commits, one 5 star, seven 4 stars, one 3 star, and a JC prospect who will probably end up as a 4 star. I'm assuming that we are in the top 15 right now.

They were definitely under consideration. A couple of more commits and they are right there with Oklahoma for me.

I like the making of the USC class for sure and it will only get better. It's a terrific year in California IMO after a down year in 2011.

  • A&M appears to have a bunch of 3 stars, typically won't get it done in the SEC much like it doesn't in the B12-2. See Vanderbilt or Kentucky.

To be honest, I was quite surprised to see us "ND" at # 8 at this point. Figured we would be between 12-15. 13 kids committed with 8 scholarships left. Like you said we have the potential to be top 5 class this year. Some big time players still set to visit and talking us up. Gerry/staff are you a little surprised at how well Kelly and staff have done on the trail? Most of his staff came from smaller schools and hadn't been recruiting on the national level. Kelly is great at unearthing/molding 2/3*. Saw yesterday that he discovered JJ Watt before he transfered to Wisconsin. Hearing FR Martin is looking like his older brother.

In fairness, Kelly had Watt at TE, not DE.
