I watched the first episode (I've watch pretty much every year) and liked some of the changes they made ... using more of HBO 24/7 angle at times and I think they found some legit fighters. I think having Sonnen makes it easier. He seemed willing to do some lead-ins/recaps that said more than "yeah, he looked impressive" ... did not like Jones coaching while the fights to get into the house were going on and I wish the tall guy that is fighting Mike Tyson Jr got on Jones team ... I think Jones could have helped him a lot stylistically.

Supposed to be the craziest knockout ever this week ... looks like someone leaves in an ambulance form the promo.

Also didn't notice a fighter that would make anyone scared to fight them in the first day of fights ... but did think the talent was legit.

  • I would imagine it's the black dude from Atl, Clint Hester. He didn't look like the most skilled fighter, but looked like a beast and was insanely quick on his punches.

Him or Uriah Hall. That guy looked insanely explosive.

Went back to look at the fighter list and he would've been my other guess.

That Colin Hart guy that was a bouncer or something looked like the one who did the knockout they keep talking about in the promos. He just seemed like a mean ass dude from the first episode.

I was really hoping the native american guy was gonna be good, but god, was he terrible.

  • The dude from ATL or the guy from New York probably

  • I guess when someone gets loaded into the back of an ambulance we will know one of the guys going to the finale.

i was hoping this guy would get in the house. He looks like the type that would kill you in your sleep and turn your skull into a cereal bowl.

    The Ultimate Fighter

The first season of The Ultimate Fighter Live on FX will feature fighters from the lightweight division (155 pounds). More than 500 prospective competitors from around the world auditioned to participate. Those 500 have been narrowed down to 42 through tryouts, cuts and background checks. Of the remaining 42 fighters, 32 will be selected to participate in the series premiere episode or “Fight In.” From there, 16 finalists will be broken up into two teams of eight, with each team living in a house together for the duration of the season. The fighters will train together under the supervision of their team’s respective coach. One fighter from each team will be selected by their coach to fight at the end of each episode and the right to advance in the competition. At the end of the season, one man will be crowned The Ultimate Fighter Live Champion and receive a six-figure contract with the UFC.

  • A buddy of mine fought Clint Hester in a Semi-Pro fight. Says he should be the dude everyone is scared of. Likes to play with his food before he eats it. Sometimes that comes back to bite him though.

Uriah Hall is the one that would scare me. Guy had the whole package and used his kicks very well. Very Silva like with the solid Jiu-Jitsu too.

I agree with everything here. Really has a lot more HBO feel, which was really lacking in the last couple rounds.

Also love Tuesday night. I completely hated Friday night because I was always out and sometimes my DVR cut off the ending since it was live. Get my MMA in mid week.

Very true. FX production value really adds to the experience. Took a couple times to get it right, but I think this season will be strong.

HA! Clint was my personal trainer for a while in Atlanta at X3 Sports in Marietta. He's a great guy, and is a beast for sure. He's been scaring folks around Atlanta for a while. He almost made the show the last time they had his weight class, but was told he was too raw then because he was mainly a boxer.

  • I went to high school with Clinton. I also made a terrible decision when I agreed to a slap-boxing match in the baseball locker room.

Only one show. You can catch up quick.

Didn't miss too much except picking the teams and some Sonnen jokes.

  • Agree 100% on Hester and Hall looking the most freakishly gifted. I can't wait for Samman to fight again. If he gets someone's back and double fists them again, I'm going to fall out of my chair. He cracked me up during his fight, but he also should skill.

From the promo, I'm guessing the knockout is going to happen some time this season, not necessarily tomorrow?

  • So apparently the knockout is next week.

Is it the obvious pick in Uriah Hall or does Cella shock everyone?

Uriah is going to murder that guy. The guy Uriah is fighting was getting his ass handed to him in his initial fight to get into the house until he sub'd his opponent.

Cerra or whatever the guys name Hall is fighting next week has no one to blame but Jones for getting destroyed on national tv. Jones being a complete dumbass when picking the initial fight . Sonnen on the other hand knows how to get his best fighters into the next round

Maybe it'll be like a couple seasons ago when the best fighter on the show knocks himself out on a takedown? shrug

I felt they made it seem like Jones' guy may have done it, but I just don't see it happen ... I think it will be some freakish kick/knee from Hall.

FWIW, the one fight per week format is getting old for me. I don't need that much back story.
