Of course I'm a bit bias being a Baltimore native, but for the type of show it was there is none better. It blows NYPD Blue and Law and Order and crap like that out of the world. Being from Bmore makes me appreciate it even more because of how spot on it is.

I actually liked season 2 because my uncle worked the ports for thirty years and they nail it. And if you ever come to Bmore the Wire presented West Bmore pretty damn accurately. Let's just say West Baltimore is about as hard as it gets. The Wire focused on the poor school system and how the "no child left behind" policy is absolute bs.

Also the season when they decriminalized drugs and started Hampsterdamn was based on what the old mayor of Bmore, Kurt Schmoke was trying to do when in office. He tried to decrim drugs the whole time he was mayor and his plan was to do what the Wire did and push all of the drugs into one designated area to reduce widespread crime and to clean up surrounding neighborhoods.

I actually supported Schmokes vision and agree with it fully, but obviously decriminalizing all drugs wouldn't fly with alot of folk. Anyway, my point is that the Wire did an incredible job of showing how Baltimore is on so many different social levels. Excellent show imo.
