The elusive 3peat

  • Can Bama do it? Has it ever been done? I know Bama & Nebraska did the whole 3 out of 4.

We will be better next year than we were this year. It will be tough but we at least have a chance to do it. That is all you can ask for at this point.

Scheduling argument would have much more standing if you actually beat us.

What's the point, y'all will just play us again and maybe a third time. Slive would probably sub Bama in for the east team in the SEC championship

Bama was robbed of a 3 peat in 1966. Bama was back to back defending AP national champs, came into the year #1 and then went 11-0, the only undefeated and untied team and dropped to #3.

Should have been the only 3 peat in history. Good thing we'll make up for it this next season.

    I say yes

    LOSNOLES

  • Well yes because they have to lose 2 times. I don't care what people think, but voters are swayed by the SEC bias and rightfully so. The SEC has won 7 in a row, so in order to knock them down a peg, they'll have to lose 2 times which I don't believe is happening unless it's to LSU and they run the table and keep Bama out of their conference championship and we've already seen last year, that they would put them in there anyway.

Oklahoma did it under Bud Wilkinson in the 50s.

With Saban and the talent y'all are bringing back, anything is possible. Y'all may not go undefeated, but a championship is doable.

Wrong. OU did it in '55, '56, and '57.

Next year's Bama-LSU game won't be close. At least a 2-TD win for us.

Not so sure about that. First off, LSU is gonna play ya tough regardless. Secondly, how can you see in the future injuries (McCarron goes down), ineligible players, off the field problems, etc.... These are young kids and things happen. Too hard to tell right now. Have to wait up to game time.

I don't think that is correct. Oklahoma, I believe, only claims 1955 and 1956. Pretty sure Auburn (AP) and Ohio State (UPI) claim 1957. Oklahoma was ranked 4th by both polls at the end of that year.

    Oklahoma has 7 claimed national championships: 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, 2000.

  • How much of your Oline is returning?

    Those dudes are beast.

    Outstanding

  • Warmack and Jones are seniors so they are gone for sure... Consensus is that Fluker is gone too. So CyKo (most talented of all 5) and Steen (least talented) are back. Got a Juco tackle coming in for right tackle (most likely). Center and Guard have good candidates but there will obviously be a drop-off from Warmack and Jones.

Therein lies the problem - they lose at least Chance Warmack and Barrett Jones. It remains to be seen how big those losses will be, but there's no doubt that those two were the heart and soul of the OL. (This is not to talk down about the rest of the OL, as Fluker and Kouandijo are amazing bookends, but Warmack was the best overall lineman and Jones is now a 3-time national champion and was clearly the mental leader of the OL).

However, with another year of Yeldon and McCarron, a stockpile of talent on D to reload for players like Milliner, and Saban at the helm, Alabama can absolutely go for the three-peat. There isn't a team in the country that can touch them when they play like they played against ND.

  • Only 2 games jump out at you right now on our schedule

    @ A&M
    vs LSU

We get 2 weeks to prepare for both. I think we could run the table until the SEC championship game

  • why are we talking about 3peats? It's already a given. I'm just wondering if they can pull off the 5peat.

  • I'm thinking a minimum 8-peat
