There's still no better big game coach

  • than Pete Carroll.

Dude knows how to get his guys jacked for the big stage.

  • Saban probably not the rah rah type but I put him right there with the results.

I do miss our guys being ready to play on saturdays with Pete. Our sideline looks like we are attending a mass funeral these days.

Love Saban's consistency throughout a season but don't think his big game presence is on par with Pete's.

True but again an example of how stats don't tell the whole story. USC was ready for Texas, outplayed Texas(even though they didn't even play their best), were better than Texas and without a couple of dumbass errors from Bush and company would've blown out Texas. That game was on the cusp of being a laugher until Bush decided to pitch the ball on that run. Also, Carroll, nor any other coach ever, could've controlled or prepared their team for Vince Young that night. He was on another level in that game. Texas took advantage of the mistakes USC gave them but I don't think there was anything Carroll could've or should've done different in that game. The 4th down is the only questionable call in the game.

I think Pete was great as a big game coach but his issue was the games he was supposed to win. The sign of a great coach is being able to get his team ready and fired up to play every opponent even when his team is leagues better than the other. Oregon St and Stanford shouldn't have happened to those teams.

    I agree with this.

If I had to pick one I'd rather have Pete who won all of the big ones but lost a few to bad teams than say Chip Kelly who beats every team he's supposed to but loses big games.

That would be a great thread too. I have family in OKC and they love Stoops 11 months out of the year... Jan is not a good month I guess.

Meh... it is what it is. SC will be fine going forward.

Lane had a spectaular season a year ago... I guess it's a little easier to win when there are no bowl games or expectations to live up to. cool
