We don't have two mascots, we have one. That is the elephant.
The name of the football team is the Crimson Tide.
And we're called the 'Crimson Tide' because a reporter forever ago said the team liked like a 'crimson tide' coming out of the locker room to the field.
The name stuck and became the name of the team.

Granted, Auburn's 'war eagle' because an eagle attacked an opposing mascot or some such once then crashed into the field is dumb IMO.

Why does MSU ring cow bells? Does it appeal to the hickish nature of the fans or have some team significance to the name 'bulldogs' I'm unaware of?

That the nation thinks the Hokies Metallica entrance is cool
Its an outdated 80's rock song, its not cool.... and when you come out to it and go 1-29 against the top 5 its certainly not badass
