It boils down to the fact that ND didn't actually push the lift over, so under OSHA's standards, they were only guilty of putting him in a dangerous situation without precautions, they weren't constructively responsible for his death. The outcome might've been different in a criminal court, but no criminal charges were ever filed.

  • It is all around a shame. No way he should have been up there. It was stupid on ND's part. I do believe the family & ND did reach a financial settlement out of court. Doesn't make it right & won't bring him back. Could of & should have been prevented.

Not really covered up. Just a lack of media coverage. Both instances were investigated by not just ND campus police but by the Indiana State Police. Both times there was not enough evidence to bring about cases. Do you think the State Police would help cover up such crimes?

I no longer have a hard time believing things. I have lost much faith in humanity.

It was all over the place when it happened. Where were you? OSHA investigated & found no wrong doing. Still don't know why that poor kid was out there in those conditions, but OSHA found no wrong doing. Are they covering for ND?

It was in the news yeah but not for long. I'm far from Mr. Conspiracy Theory but what bothered me the most was no one ever denied that Kelly didn't know the exact weather conditions before he sent that kid up there. Nothing will bring him back but I've always had a bad taste in my mouth over that whole ordeal. It just didn't sit right with me from the start.

  • Have any of the players names ever leaked out? I wonder which players were involved in these things. I believe the article said both players were still on the team

Then props to you sir, but many have. How did this tragedy get covered up so conveniently?

There was no tragedy. Its bad that this girl killed herself, but when the ND police, and even moreso the South Bend police, who historically have it in for ND players of any sport (google the number of raids theyve conducted to bust students) find that nothing wrong happened, nothing wrong happened. They kissed, he tried for a little boob action, she blocked him, he stopped, and she cried rape. All of the facts up to the rape were confirmed by the player AND THE GIRL.

The girl had emotionial problems. her own therapist wanted her closer to home where she could get treatment, but her parents wanted her at St. Marys. Maybe if her parents were more concerned about her well being and less concerned about where she went to school she would still be alive today. The fact is that there are people to blame for this suicide, but the university isnt one of them. Ridiculously irresponsible reporting of lies and half truths.

I'm sure that is what Kelly said about the weather man who talked about high winds that morning...

If I understood that story correctly, there were two seperate crimes commited against two seperate girls. What about the 2nd girl? She also lying?

Who knows, according to the article she never reported it. As for the first girl, she claimed the player touched her breast then was interrupted by a phone call. The phone records show he actually placed a call, not received one. Now, what are the police supposed to do? No marks, no witnesses, nothing was heard outside the dorm room?

I read a different story than the one in the original post here, on the girl who committed suicide (Seeberg), and someone in the comments section asked who the player is and someone replied with a Scout player profile link that went to Prince Shembo's page.

This coming from the guy that said Te'o was second in the country in passes defended, even tough he is ranked fifty one.

LMAO, I have so ruined you that you feel the need to try and attack me in every thread. Go ahead and link where I claimed he was second in the country overall. I said he was second among linebackers...and he is. We both know who here has made the false claims. Tell us all again how Te'o is second on the team in tackles even though he leads his team by 42.

Gott anything to contribute relevant to the thread?

He is a good player, but I would not consider him vital. Many thought 5 star Ishaq Williams would beat him out but Shembo has held him off. They split time but Shembo is the starter. ND has suspended stars for a semester and/or season for streaking on campus, pot, dui, etc. I seriously doubt they would try to cover up a sexual assault allegation simply because it was a football player. At the time of the allegation, Shembo had never started a game.

  • I will never forget...

Several years ago on either the nd scout or rivals board...there was a thread discussing that if maurice clarett had decided to attend nd (he was offered) that he would have been a bright shiny citizen of the world. That, because of the slime-pit of Ohio State, MoC was led down a path of crime...but nd would have saved him from doom.

I think what shocked me the most was that nobody from notre dame questioned the logic of the thread. They all basically agreed.

Well, I certainly have no proof that if Mr. Clarett had gone to nd instead of Ohio State, that he would not have gotten into any trouble.

But.. The list of notre dame students that have been murdered, raped and so distraught by what happen on campus that the only path they saw was to commit suicide, is growing ever year.

By not enough evidence, you mean the star witness killed herself and the other girl decided not to press charges.
