Besides that AM, you know damn well the media could address how many people died on a certain day in war, and make it a big story. Sad part is that they don't choose to do that, they choose to molest stories and turn them into racial crap when they aren't. They sensationalize every damn story they touch nowadays.

Yes....but you are talking about a ten year war, where there was nothing happening around the time you specifically are talking about.
This country has a very long tradition of the media covering wars. During the first Gulf War, the Pentagon finally figured out that they really did not want that war covered, and that policy has remained in effect today. There have been a few cases of the occasional reporter who will contract out with organizations like Haliburton to have them to the actual fighting, but the military does not want the American press out there. The best part of that has been, that the only real reporting about our military and the work they do, comes from British, Canadian and unfortunately Arab press.
I agree that our priorities are out of whack in this country. The fact that there are Kardasians running free everywhere is proof of this. The reporting on the War on Terror is not related to these priority issues in any way. The various governments in the last 20 years (BOTH Democrat and Republican) have taken the route that the press does them no good in times of war, so they keep them out. There are only so many ways to report that Private Smith was killed in action, and thats the whole story we are able to get on any of this. Someone is killed with no explanation, or understanding of how or why. Blame the people in charge, because all our constitutional rights regarding a free press are not valid in a foreign war.

Absolutely. I know people need some welfare sometimes to get back on their feet, but if you are habitually on welfare then I am kicking your butt off if i am the gov. But, thats the truly saddening thing, the government has their own agenda and do not do that.

What constitutes hard work in your mind, though? This may not apply to you, but there's this perception among a lot of (older) Americans that "hard work" is only work that requires physically demanding labor (that usually pays poorly). My father is a doctor and works his ass off with long hours and has done so for over 30 years and after all of this still makes it a point to care deeply for all of his patients, but because he makes good money and is paid for his brain, not his brawn (he's in excellent shape, so you don't have to make "lazy, fat" comments) he gets viewed as not being as hard of a worker. My chosen field is advertising and graphic design, again, another field where I'm being paid for my intellectual ability, not my athletic ability. But to a lot of people, being smart is viewed as "lazy" where as being physically gifted or working manual labor is viewed as "American." I say as long as you take care of yourself and work your ass off at whatever you choose to do, no one has the right to judge you.
Oh, and so you know USMCAG, two of my cousins grew up in Israel and did the required 2 year service in the Israeli military. One is getting her PhD from Harvard and the other was an NYU film grad but is now getting is law degree from Harvard. We call them the overachievers of the family.

You guys seem like cool, level-headed gents, so it really wasn't directed at y'all. A friend of mine and I just had a good discussion about this (he's getting his Masters in Finance) about how a lot of people look down on people who got successful with their brain but laud people who did so with their brawn. Think about how many people dog people like Bill Gates but who love guys like Peyton Manning. Now, they might say that athletes shouldn't get paid as much, but it's usually not directed at specific players. And as FT said, this world needs doctors and designers, too. As long as you strive to be the best at your field, you're helping this great country. That's how I feel about it.

. I just have a huge problem with the people that do not do any work and expect to get paid anyways...
This seems about right
