Thoughts on this NCAA letter to Miami

Last time I checked, extortion was illegal as a pretty big deal to our legal system. Why would the federal courts care if baseball players are juicing? Why would they care about bounty gate? The NCAA is the biggest bunch of crooks out there... It won't be long (not saying this is the straw that breaks the camels back) before our government intervenes IMO.

LOL funniest thing I heard all day. The NCAA broke Ca law in one of the things they used against SC. The NCAA doesn't give two shits how they get their evidence.

If this were court and the state has evidence that you are guilty of a crime and the defendant has no rebuttal, then you are presumed guilty.

By evidence you mean the word of felon who's sittin in jail because of lying?

This ^^^ is what makes what they do to schools wrong, it's one thing to have actual evidence it's another thing to have one persons word coming out of a jail cell who's butthurt.

I know Miami fans are upset, but I fail to see where the federal court comes into play here. NCAA has one side of the story. They are giving the other side the chance to make their case known as well. If they refuse to talk, they are admitting guilt.

What is the issue here that Miami fans are seeing? I honestly have no idea, that is why I keep asking.

They don't have to talk though, the NCAA is trying to force them too. I would think a player could sue the NCAA for defamation of character if damaging things about them came out from the NCAA since they are not required to participate in the investigation like the current players are. That's the lawsuit I could possibly see coming out of this.

So, just so I understand all sides, you don't think there was any wrongdoing by UM, correct?

When there is visual evidence(pictures, receipts, ect...), the NCAA needs to do their job. There is evidence that Many Miami football players got benefits. If the players do not come out and refute that, then the NCAA has no choice but to go with the only evidence given to them.

That really is the bottom line.

Negative. There was wrong doing, that has already been proven.

No more worse violations than any other college bro. I'm sure you're not that ignorant of what goes on.
Why does the NCAA need to talk to the players in the NFL?
No Heisman trophies to take or championships to take away.

So people think extortion is legal/acceptable and that when the NCAA is sued over it, won't be held accountable?

Is it OK for Miami not to be held accountable? The NCAA should be sued if they DON'T do anything.

Interesting article. The only thing I disagree with is that I don't believe for a moment that Mark Emmert's "heart is in the right place". He's incompetent and corrupt. But the net results are equally bad, so it really doesn't matter which you believe.

It isn't a coincidence that Muhammad was reinstated very quickly after that one story came out about one of the lawyer's boyfriends talking loudly about it on a plane.

Just because a person lied and was put in jail does not mean that guy will never say another truthful statement.
Second, his "story" has endured scrutiny, he has pictures and receipts, as well as buildings named after him in Coral Gables.
Third, players insinuated in this "lie" are not even coming forward to clear their own names from these "lies".
Fourth, your school has proactively taken steps to prepare for the looming sanctions f4om these "lies". How many times have you seen a person run from law enforcement and been just an innocent victim?

You know that your school has fault here and so does your school. You don't try to mitigate sanctions now because you know your school is innocent of these "lies". The sooner you can come to this realization the earlier you can rebuild your program.

There are documents he provided as evidence, therefore it's not just conjecture. This isn't rumor or hearsay.

The guy, felon or not, turned over all the documentation/proof and the NCAA has given the former players ample time to respond with their evidence to the contrary. If they were innocent, I guarantee they would've come forward rather quickly to refute and provide evidence Shapiro is lying.

The GEDs on the Cane sites thinking they realize this is illegal but the Masters and Doctorates and JDs on NCAA's staff didnt recognize it is the comedy of the day.

You should be interested in Miami getting off easy. Weakens the already pathetic ACC if they don't.
Good luck making it to the NC game against ACC opponents. Computer models work in your favor fail

We know where guilty you guys. Just don't want to get exhorted on top of it.

    Geno for Heisman.

What are you talking about? What does Geno have to do with Miami?

Why would I be mad? I'm just laughing at the Miami fans talking about federal courts. Its comical. NCAA is trying to get the story from the players that received the benefits. How terrible of them.

Nobody said Miami can't be held accountable.. Trying to extort non NCAA affiliates to testify is both illegal and prosecutable.

Bring on the sanctions but do it in a legal manner.

Where are these non-NCAA affiliates that are being extorted?

Former players, coaches or anyone else not currently affiliated with the NCAA (who has zero authority over them)

The evidence provided was during their time as an amateur, therefore it gives the NCAA every right to request an interview with the players. Again, they can decline, but it 100% absolutely is an admission of guilt. If they were innocent, they would be more than willing to conduct an interview and lay out their evidence to support the Hurricane program.

Don't be mad at the NCAA for doing their job. Be mad at Shapiro for being a rat. He is/was the one guy Miami didn't need to talk. He did and now has provided a transaction history, by players, with supporting documentation making all of them ineligible at the time they were amateurs. Again, the players don't neccessarily need to talk, but their program needs them to step up and tell their end of the story.

Miami knows they are guilty, otherwise they wouldn't be self-imposing sanctions.

Funny how all these former Cane players want to throw up "Da U" at every opportunity, but the moment the Miami athletic department need's them and their testimony, they want nothing to do with it.
