Not sure the Kings would have allowed him to get the mid 30 points he would have needed to win it. The Kings absolutely hate Kobe. Of course saying that your not going to let him get it and and actually stopping him are two different things.

True, it would of been somewhat of a challenge but I think he could of put up 38 if he wanted to.

No it was .01. Durant had 28.0 a game and Kobe had 27.9

when you look at how many shots were taken and total points it's not really close as to who was the best scorer this year. Durant scored 234 more total points than Kobe, despite taking 339 less shots.

  • I agree with you but I am a Kobe hater. I will say this, Duncan is the best PF of all time, KB is not the greatest SG.

that's only because the best player of all time played his position.

You started this thread, Gump. Just give us some "simple facts" backing up your claim.

    Kobe Bryant Career:

    5- NBA titles
    1- MVP
    2- Scoring titles
    14- All-Star
    25.4- PPG
    45%- FG
    83% - FT
    5.3- RPG

    Tim Duncan Career:

    4- NBA titles
    2- MVP
    13- All-Star
    20.3- PPG
    68%- FT
    50%- FG
    11.3- RPG

+1. Duncan is one of the top PF's alltime, maybe the best. But who's the comp? Malone and...? Kobe has proven his skills against the best athletes in the NBA for 16 yrs (couldve won a scoring title this year). Haters gon hate but KB is an all-time great imo.

this should say 39 fewer shots, but your point remains the same.

Pretty crazy how close the top 3 were. If you look at the per 48 scoring- Durant 34.9 Kobe 34.8 Lebron 34.7. Kobe took 4 shots more per 48 to get that number though.

There is a good list of power forwards in the NBA. Some that pop into my head are:

    Barkley
    McHale
    Hayes
    Garnett
    Debusherr
    Rodman
    Nowitzki

It's not as long a list as guards though I agree with you.

I agree, Durant is hands down the best scorer in the game and I know this. Kobe has played 16 season in the league but still has enough in him left to contend for the scoring title. That's all I'm saying. I hate when people compare Durant and Lebron stats to Kobe. The guy has been in the league since he was 19 and is now 33. come on really.

I think it's 18-34 but I could be wrong. Pretty sure this is his sixteenth season.

So what he took more shots to get his numbers? He is not the same type of scorer that they are. He's largely just a jump shooter. He gets his points draining jumpers in bums faces all night on the perimeter.Of course he takes more shots. It's easier to hit layups and dunks than jumpers duh. They both shoot more free throws than Kobe and get more points in the paint. They're also way younger than Kobe to.I bet cash money neither LeBron or Durant will be scoring at the rate Kobe is in their 16th year.

  • Anybody making the claim, "Kobe takes more shots," doesnt really follow basketball, or are fairly new to it.

MJ, still to this day, has attempted maybe 2,000 more shots than Kobe, and he took a break for a season. MJ also shot around 600-700 shots more a season, than Pippen or any other Bull.

When you're #1, you get the shots.
The difference is, when Kobe was Lebron's/Durant's age, he was able to win. Kobe/Shaq, Durant/Westbrook, Lebron/Wade/Bosh.

These comparisons are laughable because, just by mentioning a 16 yr vet, with todays superstars is an ode to greatness.

Kobe isnt on Lebron's/Durant's level, but he's still in their league, and very much so.

Completely forget McHale and the Big E (GAM in his days). Sat afternoon buzz is strong
Dirk and Barkley basically played the small forward role. All great players you mentioned but, yeah, the comp at sG is much stronger.

  • There is one guy who would win the scoring title every year if he was more selfish, and didn't average nearly 7 dimes a game.

are you comparing Shaq to having teammates westbrook and Wade/Bosh? Because if so that is ridiculous Shaq was so dominant.

    vs Indiana- 43pts 19reb, 40pts 24reb, 33pts 13reb, 36pts 21reb, 35pts 11reb, 41pts 12reb

    vs philly- 44pts 20reb, 28pts 20reb, 30pts 12reb, 34pts 14reb, 29pts 13reb

    vs nj- 36pts 16reb, 40pts 12reb, 35pts 11reb, 34pts 10reb

Has anyone put up numbers that ridiculous in 3 straight NBA finals. Its not even fair to count rings. Kobe had that kind of help. LeBron was in Cleveland when he was at that age.
