Time to admit the SEC is best, haters.

Do you agree that the conference(along with the ACC next season) is too large and watered down?

Relative IMO. Once we get the four mega-conferences, it won't matter though.

And there you go. The conference is watered down, making the good match ups practically end. A lot of bad/below average/average teams in the conference this year.

    Ole Miss
    Miss. St.
    Auburn
    Kentucky
    Vanderbilt
    Tennessee
    A&M
    Missouri
    Arkansas

That is well over half the conference right there.

    Then you have...

    UGA
    Bama
    LSU(although they haven't looked great)
    Florida
    USC

5 good teams. LSU does play USC and Florida this season, but avoids UGA. Bama avoids UGA, USC, and Florida. UGA plays Ole Miss, Auburn and Missouri from the west. Gauntlet right there.

The conference was really watered down by going to 14. I hate the format. 12 should be the max, IMO. ACC made the same mistake, and REALLY watered down the conference with Pitt and Syracuse. Boy, I can't wait for that Pitt vs. FSU game in Pittsburgh with 20,000 fans in the stands.

We didn't water down the conference just because mizzou and a&m aren't great this year. They're both in the conference after this year.

If the top teams didn't avoid each other, we would know that for a fact. Meanwhile, Bama avoids UGA, USC and Florida.

Its just stupid. Top teams play the weak teams from the other division to boost its rankings. In the Big 12, everybody plays everybody. That is what makes the SOS strong.

i like most of your threads but this one lacks more than the WVU defense.
the SEC has two divisions of 7 which would make it a bit difficult to play 13 schools among a 12 game slate. fingergun

as for the B12 which is only 10 there isnt a difference in your 9 game conf slate vs the SEC's 8 game slate once you factor in Dorothy U as everyones "9th" game .shrug

A&M hasn't finished in the top 5 since 1956. They had a good 10-year period when they decided that whole-scale cheating was the way to go. They fired their beloved coach and AD to avoid the death penalty and went right back to sucking. They have never been good. What makes you think that is going to change?

A&M and Missouri has 1 Big 12 championship combined. Don't act like they strengthen any conference. They watered down the SEC.

  • i for one thought A&M and FSU were the logical choice for expansion with the next two options being UNC or L'Ville to enhance Hoops.

i liked the A&M addition, now the mizzou add im not to fond of but hey its over now and we will just see how it runs. i would have liked to have added florida state but we all know florida isnt gonna agree to any other team in that state getting a bid for recruiting purposes. and dont look for the SEC to add anyone for basketball strength, football is the money sport and we already but up with kentucky and vandy for their basketball.

    Yeah.

Remember all those huge BCS wins by UGA, South Carolina and Miss State.

Doesnt make them bad. Its just that Bama, LSU, and Florida are in the SEC too and theres only so many spots in the BCS that go out to the SEC. Id personally give the SEC atleast 5 spots. UGA has BCS wins.

Posts like yours are way no one gives a.shit what haters of the SEC say, they have no idea what they are.talking about and use any stupid ass argument they can.

Who says A&M isnt good this year? Their only loss is 20-17 to an undefeated UF team.

    MaybeNxtYear

  • I revised my original post , the SEC is first the B12 2nd , the rest as a conference dont matter.

Wouldn't that be strange, though? Suck for so many years in the Big 12, and then go to the SEC and magically become a good team?

Exactly. SEC has some very good teams. So does the Pac 12 and Big 12. With the top teams in the SEC avoiding each other, its tough to really judge how good they really are.

    THIS ^^^

The Big12 now is experiencing what the PAC 10 was doing the last 5 years. Which is play everybody in their conference. Don't expect to get any credit for it, they never gave the PAC any.

All you will hear is that the SEC is the best and they beat each other up,
but they way the SEC schedule's means that you can't judge them as a conference,
only for who they play in their conference.

Look at Georgia and Alabama this year.

Last year, the top 2 from the SEC East didn't play the top 2 in the SEC West
until Georgia played LSU in the CCG.

That's why it doesn't matter if the SEC is the better conference overall,
and the SEC schedule is only getting weaker now with 14 teams.

  • Man. Reading this thread, you would have thought that Alabama,LSU,USCe,UGA and UF all only play OM,Vandy,Missouri,aTm,Arkansas,Auburn and Kentucky.

  • Imagine if Texas, OU, KSU, WVA and TCU were wildly overrated and all were in the top 10. When they start knocking each other off, then the original horrid mistake of over ranking them just keeps perpetuating itself. They do not fall much because they lost to a "top" team. #4 OU loses to #5 KSU. That describes the current SEC. There is one great team in the SEC, Alabama. If it happens to win a national championship, then everyone congratulates themselves and ignores the basic problem.

I'm sure this "rotating schedule" can't be tweaked by those in power..... No way possible. It's merely coincidence Georgia has its best team in 2 decades & Bama "has to play" Mizzou in their first year in conference. Seems legit.

    hey squeaky,

the way it works here is Georgia has to play their way into an azz stomping.
