To people that believe Manti Te'o...

No it's pretty simple actually. Glad you know how to use quotations as well. However, the use of quotations would not be needed in this instance because that is what I was actually doing, it was not meant in sarcasm. Sorry you do not know that.

And also, clearly you have reading comprehension issues so I will try to go slow.

Star stated, "He was dumb and fell for a hoax that a few kids ran on him."

Which means Star actually believes what both Notre Dame and Te'o said.

Notre Dame said in a press conference that Te'o was the victim of a hoax.

Te'o said he was the victim of a hoax.

Star believes what both are saying when he stated, "He was dumb and fell for a hoax that a few kids ran on him."

So, like anyone who knows how to follow a logic argument, that means Star believes Te'o fell for a hoax, when in actuality it was not a hoax because Te'o himself stated he met the girl and that the girl traveled to Hawaii and met Brain Te'o (that's Manti Te'o's father)

So in conclusion it literally is impossible to have an adult conversation with you (as I explained above) and it would be equally impossible to have an adult conversation with Star since Star himself is in denial of what actually happened. (once again follow the logic of the above break down. You cannot argue with someone who is in denial, Star is in denial, he thinks it is a hoax)

    Any questions?

You speak so matter of factly, like you are privy to evidence that we are not. Perhaps the kid lied about meeting said girl to cover up an embarrassing thing in his life. Perhaps he lied to his family and it was his family that said how they met. Maybe he was embarrased about falling for a girl via social networks to tell his family how they really met. None of these are plausible to you? If not, then I am sorry, the problem isn't with me. Again, I am not defending him here, just stating that these are plausible events that could explain why he reacted the way he did. Just because you and I would have no issue with telling someone we hooked up with someone online doesn't mean everyone is like us.

Man, just call up ESPN and them know that you are aware of (and I will use your words here) what actually happened! Oh, you mean you don't have proof? You mean you are speculating just like star was based on what is know so far? I see.

And because someone believes something, doesn't mean they are defending it. Star hasn't stated anyone was wrong in their belief even if it was contrary to his/hers. That is what you are doing.

I would bet that if the Tuiasasopo kid came out and said Manti had nothing to do with it, you still wouldn't believe them right?

    Alright dpfenny,

Put your money where your mouth is. I'll bet you either $100, a month sig bet, or a two week ban bet that Te'o is proven to be an accomplice in this charade within two weeks from today.

More details please. What is your definition of accomplice?

I'm saying that he was a full participant in this whole scam. I'm saying that he knew long before she "died" that she didn't exist. I'll put my money on that long before I will believe that it's a hoax.

Edit: I will be the first to eat my crow if I'm proven wrong.

So you are claiming ND really did not hire a firm to investigate and that Swarbrick made everything up he said in his press conference? Why would he do that instead of distance the University from the situation? It will obviously come out if he and Te'o are both lying and it is a complete fabrication.

No, I am claiming that the rapes were an internal matter and easy to coverup, therefore no PI needed because it was the girls word against the players.

This is not an internal matter and there are witnesses, sources, interviews, etc that do not allow this to be easily covered up. This is a higher priority to ND because they can't write their own story. It shows where their priorities are at to everyone with their head not stuck in the sand.

They all said that they didn't meet her, instead he (Te'o) would leave them to meet up with her.

If you think about it, this makes it 10x worse. Who has a girlfriend, that they're madly in love with, that flies to Hawaii, and not one single family gets to see her?

Then, several interviews, Te'o claims that his girl loved his family more than anything in the world. But, she flies all the way to Hawaii and never stops by and sees them when visiting him?

Manti has some serious mental issues, because he actually believes his own lies. Now, he replaces his former comments about having seen her before, with him being hoaxed and that he actually has never met this girl.

Kid is a raging, pill popping, mentally unstable middle linebacker, in training. He needs to bypass the draft and get some serious help.

It's holes in his story like the ones you have brought up here that make me not so quick to believe his story. Things just don't add up and I don't know why. While my bias HOPES he wasn't in on it, I can see how he could be. Very valid points!

If he was in on it, I surely hope he does seek help because that is not what a healthy minded individual does.

I do speak in a matter of fact because I am using facts. I know weird right? He stated he met a girl at the Stanford game in 2009. Then claims she had cancer and killed her off. Awesome person.

The fact that even attempt to defend him is both astonishing and repulsive at the same time. The level of blind blatant homerism you are displaying is nothing short of amazing. I have stated already I do not know if and what he is guilty of...still waiting for Te'o to answer some questions. However, when I read completely false claims or claims that I have yet to read anywhere after reading countless articles on the subject, I am going to ask for a link. Te'o has a lot to answer for but at the same time many are not doing their homework on what is know already. That is including ESPN. They have a ticker headline right now that is false based on Swarbrick's timeline of what Te'o found out on the 6th etc. Yet they are using that very timeline as their source.

The headline itself is false. According to the SI story they started "dating" in 2011. The Yahoo article is inaccurate if they are using Swarbrick's timeline which at this time is the only public mention of when Te'o found out.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--sources--manti-te-o-s-representatives-passed-on-chance-to-release-story-about-fictional-girlfriend-175521027.html

The hoax started coming to light in early December, according to sources.
While attending the ESPN college football awards show in Orlando, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said Te'o got a call from the phone number he had associated with Kekua. Te'o was deeply disturbed by the call and suspected it was Kekua's purported sister. Although Te'o's parents were with him in Orlando, he did not inform them of the call, a source said.
The person kept calling and saying it was Lennay herself, and over the course of 10 days Te'o engaged the woman in several conversations.
"He was asking questions only Lennay would know," said the source, adding that phone records show multiple calls between Te'o and that number.
[Related: Hoax leaves Manti Te'o's NFL draft stock in doubt]
By the time first-semester classes were over at Notre Dame, Te'o was convinced Lennay Kekua was a hoax, the source said. He went home to Hawaii for Christmas and told his mother about it on Christmas Eve. The day after Christmas, he informed defensive coordinator Bob Diaco, head coach Brian Kelly and athletic director Jack Swarbrick. Upon returning to campus, Te'o met with Notre Dame officials on Dec. 27 and told them he had never met his girlfriend.

While I am not sure about the ESPN ticker, I have provided articles and video evidence of what both Te'o said and what has transpired. Even if you do not trust nor believe ESPN, the evidence I have provided leaves little if any room to give Te'o the benefit of the doubt.

Ok I will take that bet. I do not think he knew before the season started. I have no reason to believe Jack Swarbrick would get up there and basically go "all in" when he knew it was all a lie. Swarbrick is way too smart for that. I am not yet convinced Te'o is completely "innocent", but I do not believe he knew before the season started and was able to convince Swarbrick. If somehow he did, then he needs to get into politics, acting, etc.

I have not defended anyone. Maybe your reading comprehension needs work. Go back and read all my posts. My homerism? Really? Show me this please? I have just stated that there are holes in both sides of the story..yep, homersim. I have stated that he could very well have been in on it from the beginning...yep, homerism.

Seems too many people on this board cry homerism whenever someone doesn't agree with them whole heartedly.

You should get used to people not always agreeing with your opinion on things, because when you grow up, it will happen many times. Interaction when this happens is key to holding a job, having a relationship and many other things in life.

Here is a fact for you, since I am such a homer, and defending Te'o, point to me where I have said you are wrong in your opinion. Go ahead, I will wait....can't find it? Didn't think so. Because your version could very well be the truth, I can't dispute that. But I also can't dispute that Te'o's version can be the truth as well. In either version, he lied and his actions were poorly chosen.

Not once have I said there is no way Te'o could be in on it. So your entire post is false. You should really take a step away from the computer, drink decaf, and go read my posts in this thread as well as others on this subject before attacking someone and looking down right stupid.

Anyone who really cared about her and what happened would know that in the first 30 seconds. Trolls on the other hand are not interested in the facts. Seeberg claimed he exposed, fondled, and licked her breast against her will and that he stopped because he got a phone message. Please tell us all how that is rape.
