Has anyone ever read the Silmarillion? I was thinking about ordering it,but wanted some opinions before doing so. TIA
Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

Can't tell you anything personally but I asked the same thing to some people a whole back and they recommended it. I bought it a few months back but I'm still trying to finish the "Odd Thomas" series by Dean Koontz. It's the next on my list once I finish it. I still have about four more books to get through.

I enjoyed it but you have to be a pretty big Tolkien fan otherwise it may be a tad dull

I am planning on reading it over break.
My roommate told me it was pretty heavy on strange elf names and reads kind of like a history book. I think I'll enjoy it though

I read it some years ago. It reads almost like a "bible" if someone living in middle earth found it. Talks about the creation of their world with mythological stories.

To me, the Silmarillion is the best of Tolkien's stories. It is a tough read, lots of names and the chapters tend to jump around from story line to story line. Well worth the effort in my opinion.
