Top RB's in college 2012

  • lattimore is a stud and so is ball....

every yr someone suprises the country and steps up big because they were young, hurt etc... the previous yr and has the perfect setup, ie; system, schedule and dominating o line...

the bucks have some good backs carlos hyde, jordan hall and rod smith but not 1 will be featured because of urbans spread and the fact all 3 will split carries...not to mention a thin o line...

i do think brionte dunn will be on the list in a couple yrs tho

Lol, they said similar things about Barner(sp?) and Lamichael james, yet they had major trouble against AU. They had a combine 81 yards. AU fans would be the first to tell you their defense wasn't their best ever. Just imagine DAT against a legit SEC defense. He can have all the speed he wants, he isn't getting anywhere if his line can't handle the size/speed of the D line.

Fact is DAT is a freakishly shifty/fast dude. but he would get crushed by a big fast D. Doesn't even have to be SEC. FSU's D would crush him

Barner and James aren't the same kind of player as Thomas. Not at all.

If you think that preparing for that offense for a month vs a week doesn't give you a HUGE advantage you're sadly mistaken.

You could say the same thing about Cam, who was held to 265 yards 2 td 1 int and 22 points by a PAC 10 defense, when he went for 216 and 4 TD and 28 points on the road against bama.

Oregon in 2010 and 2011 went for 1231 yards in 3 games against the SEC, that's 410 yards a game with two of those teams having a month-plus to prepare.

I won't remember that, because he'll be transferred to Grambling State.

I can't remember what Cam's rushing yards were against Oregon, but he didn't rush for much against us.

    Around 60 yards IIRC

Edit: 64 yards on 22 attempts

Full Homer engage. DAT wouldnt have rushed for 50 yards against us last year.

Lebron James is easily the best basketball player in the league currently...

You're probably right. Against the #8 defense he only had 155 yards on two carries. Two carries against the #1 he might have below 50. How many yards receiving might be a different story.

The #8 isnt even comparable to ours really. I will say how good bama is at something with honesty and that was the best D in the last decade

Disagree. Until they do what USC 2008 has done in the league they can't claim that title. Stats are almost identical and USC faced a much tougher schedule and slate of offenses.

Only time will tell on that. I think that our lofty ranking will be justified in a few years.

That would be a good comparison if the differences between spots were equal.

One hit 1/10 after he catches a pass isn't what I'm referring to, and that obviously wasn't a clean shot, seeing the flag and fine that came with it.

I think it's pretty obvious I wasn't talking about blindside hits. Qb's leading a guy to death is an obvious for anybody.

That was a bad flag, actually. The hit was clean, horrible call by the ref.

    Back to the thread...

Thanks for getting us back on track.

Where would you put Crowell on the list?

I wouldn't put him in the top 5, but there is certainly something to be said for being as banged up as he was, being the only real RB threat UGA had, running behind that STELLAR line, and still putting up 850 yards and 5 TDs as a true freshman in the SEC. I think a solid argument can be had for top 10, especially using this list as a baseline. IC is the 2nd (3rd with Micheal) leading returner rusher in the conference and ahead of Lacy.

I would put him somewhere between 6-11 probably. My own list would probably looked quite different overall than this one though, anyway.

Agreed Barner is not on the same level as James. De'Anthony Thomas is though, might even be better
