This video is from the EF4 tornado that went through Tuscaloosa, AL on 4/27/11. It was taken from the University Mall parking lot. Probably the closest video to the storm your going to see.

I think that is because of no basements, lots of trailers and not really being prepared that attributes to that. Remember that is deaths not frequency of tornadoes. There aren't many deaths in Tornado Alley because we are used to this and are better prepared.

Wow. What an absolutely terrible tragedy.
I have to say though, there was a hilarious comment made on this video....
Something like "At first I thought that guys car and him were going to be picked up and thrown away by the tornado, then I realized he is securely anchored down by the sheer size of his balls."
Obviously not an event to make fun of, but that comment made me lol.

Most of the damages in Alabama were houses. I haven't seen many pictures of trailers damaged. In fact, my sisters home was hit very badly. Her neighbors were hit as well with a few flattened. The lady across the street lives in a trailer and it took in minimal damage.

Tuscaloosa actually gets hit a lot because of it's location and because it is pretty flat (I've never seen anything close to yesterday though). I live in the metro Birmingham area and we don't ever get hit hard because it is so hilly. I'm not so sure about the other areas that were affected yesterday.
