Total Honesty about Samsung Galaxy S3

  • Just called Verizon to return this phone and just go back with an IPhone5. The battery life is absolutely terrible. I've turned off GPS, Bluetooth, etc and it's still bad. The when I use these applications I have to remember to turn them back off. Just a pain in the arse all together. Call me simplistic, don't care.Apple platform>>>>>> Android for me.

  • Love Apple products.. People just "hate" on Apple stuff because it's what most are using now and it's the "hot" item... But truthfully, Apple makes great products, a little pricey but I've had my Apple MacBook Pro for 3 years without 1 problem and I've been using Iphones for another 3-4 years without any issues since I started using them.

Just for example... it was 100% this morning. About noon it was 45% and then at about 2PM I had to charge it again. Now it's about 42% again. This is just with nothing more than regular browsing online.

  • And I hate the predictive text on the keyboard. If you turn it off then you lose spell check. I just dont like the platform. Maybe it's because I've had an iPhone since they 1st came out but it is what it is. I have literally found nothing about this phone groundbreaking other than free music.

You got a bad battery or something. Mine last much longer than that. I usually charge my phone overnight and it lasts me all day long and I am on it a lot.

Maybe so. Just a bad experience all together.

I dowloaded a different keyboard. The thing with Android is if you don't like something you can download a different version that suits you better.

No big deal though. Some people just like the iphone. I personally will never go back.

I don't hate on Apple because it is popular. I just prefer Android or PC.

    I do have an ipod.

Apple haters are an odd bunch. They make fun of a company that makes products people want to stand in long lines to buy on release day as if it's a bad thing?

Ahh the old its good because it is popular argument. People also stood in line to see the new Twilight.

I think Apple makes solid products. They are to limited for my taste but I am just not a fan of the its good because it is popuar argument.

I think the "problem" here is coming from an iphone, you were used to amazingly good battery life. Android users, especially Samsung users, don't understand how good its supposed to be. The newer Motorola phones are an improvement, but like you say, why should you have to manually turn on GPS, open maps, then manually turn it back off when you're done.

You don't have to manually turn them on. They turn on when you open them. You just have to remember to turn them off. One other little note.... the wifi signal isn't as strong on the Galaxy. My router is downstairs and I don't get as good of a signal upstairs with this phone as I did with my iPhone 4.

I love my iPod Touch (although my backlight went out Friday). I prefer Android OS over iOS and I prefer PC's over Mac's, especially desktops. I can't really build my own Mac.

Agree with Aussie about Apple being too simplistic. Not an Apple hater though so idk. shrug

I guess I just haven't found a need to have a phone that can launch a spaceship yet. I gave it the old college try but it's just not for me.

  • I have both. And my wife has GS3. I'm leaning toward my iPhone 5 as being better. And it's my first iPhone. However, both have their pluses. iPhone is simpler and smaller, but more stable and organized. GS3 is very neat with that chip it has in it. Does some iPhone can't. It preference really.

Do you have any good apps to replace the stock android screens(Like the 5 different pages that hold the apps and widgets. The actual name is escaping me lol)

  • Android isn't for everybody. That is really what it comes down to. Me and the wife have both had iPhones. We switched to Android(Galaxy Note and HTC One X) and will never be handcuffed by Apple again. An Android is what you make it. Like I said before, nothing on my Note is stock. When I'm done on my Note, I have a program on my home page that allows me to push a little broom, and it stops any apps that are running or open. Easy as that.

I don't really use my phone very often. I'm just more accustomed to Android than iOS.

I don't have a GS3, but my phone has really good battery life. It sounds like a bad battery or you have too many running apps in background.

  • A great battery experience to me is the ability to remove and interchange batteries. That way the phone is never on the charger.

When you're talking about consumer electronics and not movies made for tweens, chances are "its good because it's popular" actually means "its popular because it's good".

I was just pointing out the popularity argument does not always hold water.

For the record the S3 has sold like hot cakes as well as Androids in general. Like someone said earlier it is just a matter of preference.

If you prefer simplicity the iPhone is the way to go. If you prefer customization then the Android is the way to go.

  • I'm a simple man I like my beer cold, my whiskey warm and my ios. No biggie. I can see why people prefer either now having had both.

  • I had 3 iphones the 3g, 3gs, and the 4. I recently switched to the S3, and I wont go back. The flash support alone is a game changer for me. Also the ability to download torrents is pretty nice.
