Total Honesty about Samsung Galaxy S3

I've used both side by side from day 1. I don't think it's as cut and dry as simple-vs-customizable as the majority of Android buyers aren't power users and don't change anything. For the most part its a matter of price point and carrier loyalty. Something that contributes to the popularity of the S3 is that it's available on every platform, which was unheard of until recently (with the iPhone 4). Which means if you didn't have AT&T, you got an Android instead of an iPhone, and this was the only factor involved in people's decision making -- but the same people who really only got Androids because they were locked into Verizon contracts decided it was because only hipsters and fanboys bought iPhones.

Iphones also tend to have better parts, and up until recently always cost more. There's a reason no Android has a screen that even comes close to the iphone's screen quality, and up until recently the touch screen responsiveness couldn't hold a candle.

the one x and nexus 4 have a screen as good or better than the iphone 5.

the droid DNA has a screen way better than the iphone 5. 5 inch, 1080p, 441 ppi vs. 330 ppi for the iphone 5.

and iphone don't have "better parts". the iphones are made up of:

memory chips sourced from Samsung and Sandisk, battery from Samsung or sony, screen from sharp. point being, apple doesn't make anything they use in the phones.

Not sure what he meant by screen quality. Super Amoled Display > Retina Display in my experience.

They're about even. Amoles has more contrast and deeper colors (blue, red)

Retina had brighter, better even spread of colors.

That is why I prefer it. The pictures I take with my Note are a lot more colorful, and look a little warmer in contrast while the iPhone is a little cooler, and the colors stand out less.

Doesn't seem very fair to compare the iPhone to multiple phones.

Just called Verizon to return this phone and just go back with an IPhone5. The battery life is absolutely terrible. I've turned off GPS, Bluetooth, etc and it's still bad. The when I use these applications I have to remember to turn them back off. Just a pain in the arse all together. Call me simplistic, don't care.Apple platform>>>>>> Android for me.

    iPhone5 is where its at

another thing that is dumb is Apple's use of the term "Retina"

    it is made up.

it is merely used to classify PPI easily. the actual measurement of the iphone 5 is 326 ppi on a 4" screen.

    droid DNA = 441 ppi on a 5" screen

I don't hate on Apple because it is popular. I just prefer Android or PC.

    I do have an ipod.

No you, Aussie. You're an objective dude and I know it's a matter of preference with you. You would be surprised at what other people say and think all the damn time.

Droid DNA looks amazing, but it is going to have battery issues. A screen that large with LTE, and only having a 2020 MaH battery is going to have battery issues. Should have at least had the same battery size as the S3.

A great battery experience to me is the ability to remove and interchange batteries. That way the phone is never on the charger.

Think this... Can you run a computer sufficiently on batteries? Also, they lose Millions by using battery powered phones when they can't sell a phone charger.

as long as a phone can last around 16 hours, it's fine. charge at home, charge at work, charge in the car. don't see the point of having a phone that will last 3 days on one charge.

plus, root the phone install a franco or matrix kernel and the thing will literally double in battery life or set up profiles for screen off governors

I charge my Note overnight, and I'm good until I go to bed the next night. No problem at all. 2500 MaH battery is really nice.

  • My S3 lasts me at least 1 day of medium use, usually about 40% at bedtime.

I'm talking about using a battery dock to charge the battery you are not using. It's awesome.

Apple haters are an odd bunch. They make fun of a company that makes products people want to stand in long lines to buy on release day as if it's a bad thing?

    roflmao love it

Apple maybe upgrades a few software issues with the iphone and itards will stand in long lines and spend tons of money just so they can be "cool"

They are such a scam company but people lap it up

Not at all. Its so thin it fits perfectly in a pocket. Jeans, khaki shorts, whatever you may be wearing. The S3 and Note 2 are the best phones on the market right now, IMO. I recommend going into your carrier, and trying it out. They will let you test it in your pocket. If you surf the web a lot on your phone like I do, its the perfect phone for you.

Haha. Seriously. Anybody can get an iPhone and anybody can get a smart phone of similar capability now. This isn't 2007. If anything iPhone's aren't hip now.

I would take the Nexus 4 over either of them if your carrier supports it.

Gotcha. S3 a little more budget friendly, but the Note 2 looks like the Ferrari of smartphones. Gonna have a hard time not going w that.
