    Yeah, I agree with that. I also think it means getting a lot of attention by posting something intentionally controversial. Basically, I think of trolls as attention whores.

    I've never trolled before, and I wanted to see if it made me feel special. It doesn't really, so no more trolling for me. And obviously i'm not good at it. Maybe an apprenticeship under TIGER or devidee would be helpful. Thanks to all who participated in this trolling event.

    Trolls come in many different shapes and sizes. As long as it gets a lot of responses some would call it successful.

    I say someone has to get legitimately pissed off for it to be successful.

    I just think the truly diabolical and annoying ones are the ones who can make you believe they believe the crap they're spewing.

    Devidee is one of the worst because he's so dumb you can believe he thinks any stupid/ridiculous thing he posts is true.

    I think this is the key as well. Although attention is also required for a successful troll, the critical point is whether your intentionally inflammatory remarks have struck a nerve with someone to the point where they get pissed off and cannot help but continue to engage the troll in the thread. Perhaps even better, though not as fun for the thread lurkers, is when someone becomes so enraged by trolling that they cannot help but send private message scolding the troll on the issue.

    I also think it is important to note that anger does not have to be immediate for trolling to be successful. For example, posing as Nicki Meyer on a tOSU message board just after Urban Meyer gets hired by them and racking in numerous pm's and ass kissing posts in a thread before getting outed can also be rewarding. Then you get to enjoy all of the backlash. Finally, I think that a good troll is also patient so that they can build the trust of others before they start to troll so that they can have many repeat trolling sessions with the same victims. As you said though, the end game is always the same, getting someone else really pissed.
