JC, this is the way it's always been...it started in 2003.

According to a large and vocal conference....USC is all hype, we don't play big boy football, we cheat, we steal championships, we're arrogant and either USC is a ghetto school or a school of rich kids.....no matter who USC beats, or how many recruits we pull from wherever, we don't develop them and they all end up busts. Regardless of stats and every criteria of measurement that defines an elite program.

Sportsmanship is dead, and it's all about working the system to win, and trashing all opponents at the top of your lungs.

Ehh don't let message board heroes get to you.

A lot of people have a good amount of respect for what USC has done. When you're hated, most likely it's because you're really good.

It's the reason why I hate Cam Newton and Tom Brady. They are both really frickin good and don't play for my team

What I don't understand is why so many people care what others think.

I am not sure why you would bring up the argument about cheating though. There is a reason for the probation. It didn't just come from no where regardless of what homers want to say. I am not sure if I would call it stealing a championship though. That is stupid. The 2003 AP championship and 2004 BCS championship were both rightfully awarded based on the system that we play/played under. Not sure what is stealing about either of those. Yes, the 2004 title was taken back based on later discovered incidents.

You know I am a fan of USC, but some of the perceptions are true, and yes, some of them are way off. USC used to have a problem with location and its surrounding areas being very ghetto-like. That is a perception that those in the know, understand has changed, but it is still a perception that people that don't know are going to have. That's just life and it isn't a reason to get pissed off like a lot of you all do.

Just like any private school, it is a school with a ton of rich kids. There is nothing wrong with that and I don't know why anyone would care anyway. There are a lot of scholarships given to kids, especially in the LA area that wouldn't be able to afford that type of education as well, but the perception right or wrong, isn't a bad thing to me......and I don't think it should to you. Duke, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Miami have the same perception. There is some truth to it, but it doesn't make it true.

Again, with people being busts.......why does it matter if people on a message board say that. The number of players in the NFL tends to argue that. One could say that yes, Bush and White were somewhat of busts in the NFL, but who cares. They did what they did at USC. If a Bama guy goes to the NFL and quits working or something happens and he is a bust, it doesn't change what he did in college.

You have always come on here and told people to quit acting like little girls. I give you the same advice today. You are better than that. Let the people talk.....and in some cases joke about stuff they don't know about. How is that going to change the reality. People are jealous of USC. You know what, there are plenty of people that are jealous of what Alabama has right now as well and use everything they can to put this or that down, but it doesn't matter. People can say that this or another site overrates all of Alabama recruits all they want. We have the hardware from 2 of the last 3 years that either backs up these services....or it means that our staff is even that much better than anyone elses. Either way it doesn't matter.

I don't think they like Saban though. Of course, I didn't like Tuberville for a while either. I grew to like him in the end though. Still pretty happy with their current coach, honestly.

Yeah, right. IF, and I mean..IF USC got to the NC game, and won...the excuses will come in massive spin, the SEC was weak this year...USC could never beat the SEC when they are strong....they didn't take a non-SEC school seriously, the best players weren't on the field....blah blah. God help us if we lost, no one would hear the end of it...no matter what, it's one team vs a conference. Tagging along doesn't count.

Here's a clue...the best team isn't always in the "best" conference. Alabama proved that over it's history...till not even winning got them a championship because their conference was so weak.

  • Bottom line for USC's sanctions (sure I am a USC homer) is that one and only one football player received impermissible benefits and USC lost 30 scholarships for it.

That's ludicrous when you compare it to SMU whose entire team was receiving benefits, or Miami's multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme. Additionally, it was not a USC booster who gave the cash to Reggie and his parents. It was an agent who was unaffiliated with USC.

USC fans are more than justified to be displeased about what other fanbases say. USC is probably viewed as the dirtiest program in the country, when in fact that is completely untrue. How about Florida under Urban Meyer? Anybody have the stat for how many felonies his players committed? It's 31.

USC deserved punishment, but to be punished as harshly as they did is unjustifiable. The biggest sanction of all is the false perception everybody has of USC being a dirty program. USC will go down as the second most punished program ever for ONE PLAYER (football that is, I know full well about OJ Mayo and the tennis players).

I think you have the wrong perception if you think that USC is viewed as the dirtiest program in the nation.

You are also way off on the Urban Meyer issue. Not saying it in a good way, but he had 31 players arrested. That is very different than having 80 players convicted of a felony.

You are making an accusation about someone else's programs when it isn't true and complaining about accusations that others make of your program all at the same time.

And you don't think that is the same way every SEC that does have a chance to win a BCSCG feels going into the game. The first time one loses to another team, that team won't here the end of it. It happens to everyone.

I still don't know why some care so much about what people on a message board think, feel, or say. None of us have votes in a poll.

I live in the deep South and that is what you hear all the time - that USC is the dirtiest program in the country. Conduct a poll and you'll find that will be the consensus opinion.

And while yes my number was way off, the point is still valid. 31 felonies under Meyer but minimal criticism for UF. One player takes impermissible benefits at USC and it's a shitstorm of negative press. It's unjust and damaging to the reputation of USC.

The written sanctions are not the big problem because those will go away. What will not go away is how USC has been branded by society as a dirty, cheating program.
