  • You really can't make this stuff up.

    From Deadspin (Troll Tide):

Alabama TV Station Air Teabagging Video That Features The Son Of The TV Station's Sports Director

Mobile, Ala.'s WKRG opened its 10 p.m. newscast with the video of an Alabama fan teabagging an LSU fan at the Bourbon Street Krystal after the BCS title game. What WKRG failed to mention is that one of the stars of the video is none other than Patrick Setterstrom, a recent college grad and son of the station's sports director, Randy Patrick Setterstrom. Indeed, if you watch the video, it's Patrick Setterstrom who first attempts to pull out his package before girlfriend Ellen Cassin (who's conveniently wearing a jersey with her own name on it) stops him.
(By the way, we've gotten emails indicating that the victim is indeed alive. We'll have more on this later, and we apologize for passing on rumors earlier that the man might have died.)

A number of tipsters identified the couple for us. We tried to contact Patrick Setterstrom and Ellen Cassin for their sides of the story, and because we get the sense they know the individual who eventually does assault the LSU fan. Both Patrick and Ellen deleted their Facebooks immediately after I contacted them. I've also gotten no response from emails or phone calls to WKRG's Randy Patrick Setterstrom, who during his own report later in last night's newscast made no mention of the video. We'd love to know his reaction to seeing his son in the shot—or if he even noticed.

If Patrick and Ellen somehow don't know the perpetrator, they have a ton of pictures of him and of the incident in general—you can see them posing for the photos in the video we posted on Sunday. Since the New Orleans police are investigating this case, those photos are probably of some importance right now.

The video itself was originally uploaded to YouTube by Reilly Terrell, proprietor of BamaSportsForum. He says in an email that he was simply passing by and saw what was happening through the Krystal window. He says he doesn't know any of the people who appear in the video.
If Alabama fans are truly as angry about this incident as the emails we've received from so many of them suggest, you'd figure one of them would know the teabagger's name. The tip line's open. Here's the most detailed tip we've gotten:

"I met this guy at The Rusty Nail in New Orleans earlier that day. He said his name was Brian from Pheonix [sic] City, Alabama. He's married and has a 3 month old baby....(which he decided to tell us rudley that he left at home so he could have more fun). He was completely intoxicated and rude the whole entire time, even to the Alabama fans."

Oh, and as for Chris Kelley, the troll who tried to take credit for the incident, congratulations to him. We tracked down his wife, her place of work, her phone number, and even called her boss. Chris Kelley sent us on a wild goose chase that included our informing his wife's boss that he had confessed to a sexual assault. Successful troll!

  • I'm so over this stupid story...the lsu guy made a dumb mistake and the Alabama guy made an even dumber mistake..why don't people worry about tracking down the men and women who are raping innocent children or murderers killing inocent people...drunk people do ignorant things all the time..the guy knows what he did was wrong and probably feels bad about it but there were way worse things happening in that area that night and way worse things to worry about in the world than a bunch of drunk idiots making a fool of themselves

  • Like I posted in another thread, since there doesn't seem to be any LSU fans posting here on this topic, I thought I'd share what an LSU fan posted on another forum for the tools that are trying defend this sex offender's actions throughout these threads:

You think you know, but you don't. You undertand neither the Nola culture or the rules.

There is a line. In Nola that line is a bit further out than in say, Anniston, Alabama. But don't go tricking yourself into pretending that line was not crossed. Try crossing that line in Nola in front of a cop because you perceive the city "celebrates lewdness" and see how long it takes you to get your arse beat down, thrown in cuffs, and forgotten in a jail cell for a week. You have NO IDEA OF WHAT YOU SPEAK.

It's "Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet". Emphasis on GOOD times. It is not a licence to victimize people who are physically unable to defend themself by whipping out your sausage and rubbing it all over somebody's face. As much as you think it is odd/confusing/inconsistent with your beliefs that Nola has a specific area where pubic drinking/letting the good times roll is the norm, you still, believe it or not, can't commit sexual assault on passed-out strangers.

As for your continued claim that this is "fake outrage" I assure you People are GENUINELY upset, watch a video of our DA on the news last night, or listen to WWL talk show chatter for proof. Louisiana, like Alabama, puts a LOT of weight on the concept of a Man's HONOR. Being a Southerner, you should KNOW this. A line was crossed and it saddens/disturbs/angers people.

YOU, RIGHT NOW, on THIS thread are creating a PERCEPTION of the Alabama fan. Not the victim, not me, not the people reporting on the assault, but YOU, the Bama fan who continues to obfuscate and point fingers and tell us what we are feeling about this incident, and how we all just need to move on, etc. Are you sure that's the perception you want us to have of you, Harvey Updyke poisoning trees and crimson-clad idiots Teabagging our fans and posting it on Youtube like that guy was some kind of sick trophy? Seriously ?

Just condemn it and MOVE THE frick ON.

  • Hey Harvey Updyke, I mean bhiley77, I'm glad you took the time to post in this thread. I know you're a bama legend now, so I'm sure your quite busy signing autographs, signing babies, and posing for family photos with all of the mullet nation. Maybe once both of you are released from jail, this sex offender and you can schedule bama signing events together. One more thing, I'd like to wish you and him congatulations, because I'm sure both of you will now receive bama football season tickets for life from anonymous donors, AKA bama boosters.

  • What's ironic about this LSU fan's view of public drinking from an outsider's perception. There are plenty, too many really, dry counties in the state of Alabama. Open containers, while bar hopping, aren't tolerated by the police in any cities throughout Alabama either.

  • I was at Harrah's in Nola to watch the game. When ESPN showed footage of the tornado and told Carson Tinker's story, almost every LSU fan in the bar started booing and yelling profanities. They were mocking the tornado, and some were even mocking Ashley Harrison when they showed her memorial. After the game, I was walking Bourbon and I stumbled onto Krystal right when the Bama fan whipped out his nuts. I walked right away (there was nothing I could do, there were no cops anywhere.) Anyone who thinks one fanbase is worse than the other is a damn idiot, especially when it's the SEC. There are a-holes everywhere, just like the 100 or so LSU fans that booed and heckled the worst tornado in Alabama history

This is funny considering the stories coming out that there was 4 cops not 15 feet away from where it was happening. Also heard the guy was trying to start fights with Alabama fans before he passed out. Do I condone what happened, no. Do I care, no. Alcohol makes people do stupid things, so be it. LSU got owned on the field and are now finding any reason to whine. Welcome to reality.
