Big East >>>>>>>> Big 12. At least using SEC logic

If you look at their accomplishments in OOC play, I wouldn't argue that.

Sure it does. It looks something like this after the Big East championship trophy is given out.

But if you actually watch the quality of football being played, you'd see the Big 12 is a much better conference.

  • Over half the Big XII went 7-5 with just under half the conference went 4-5 in conference and finished 7-5 overall with ZERO OOC against AQ teams with a winning record. The two best OOC wins for these four 7-5(4-5) teams were against 4-8 Maryland and Virginia. clap

I don't knows. I watched both Pitt and OU play Notre Dame. The middle of the pack team in the BE looked better than one of the top teams in the B12. At some point, you have to believe the results and the B12 hasn't proven anything this year.

I watched that same Pitt team lose by 17 points to Youngstown State, and go down 24-0 to a pitiful UConn team. I like what Chryst is doing there, but you cannot be serious with a post like that. The eye test tells you that the Big 12 is far, far superior than the Big East.

The Big East doesn't even have a top 25 team to finish the season, as the same team that lost to Youngstown State by 17 beat Rutgers.

You may not agree with it, but why exactly would one be ignorant for doing so?

I would say you are ignorant for not seeing the difference in college and the NFL. No team gets any advantage in the NFL because of their division. It all has to do with their records and a true playoff scenario. In college, teams from the conference that is considered the best are going to be the one-loss team that is chosen over those from other conferences.

There is a perfectly good reason for someone to want teams in their conference to do well. Some do and some don't, but doing so is anything but ignorant.

The College to NFL was simply an example, pick a sport baseball, hockey, etc. The point is conference loyalty only gets discussed in the college football realm, not even college basketball gets discussed in the same terms. The point is the fan bases that I hear "tooting" the horn are typically the bottom feeders of their conference.

What's the "perfectly good reason" for cheering for your conference? Do you win more games because of it? Nope, so why would you care? The only way I can see this logic working is if you plan to fall back on the "well we play in XYZ conference" crutch when your team is subpar.

    For one, Louisville is ranked.

Second of all, which eye test are you speaking of? Are you basing your assumptions on what Big12 teams look like against other Big12 teams?

I am basing it off what they did as a conference against AQ teams plus Notre Dame that they played in OOC. The Big12 was horrible in that area with 1 win against a winning team (7-5 Miami).

That is what I look at when judging a conference and the only 2 conferences that had any success were the SEC and PAC12. That's why the B12 is well below that level with the ACC, B1G, and BE to me. The "eye test" is why people thought WVU was a BCS contender a month and a half ago. There isn't really any true substance in it.

College football is subjective. That's why there is a difference. A one loss team in the SEC can still feel comfortable that they will have a chance when the same team in the ACC, B1G, BE, and B12 are basically done. That's why some cheer for their conference. I am not sure why it matters to bottom feeders other than making them feel better about losing. I was just saying there is a reason.

I would say that basketball is a little different, but if your team is a possible bubble team, it would better suit you to be in a better conference as well so you have a chance for more "quality wins" later in the season.

There's no way to disprove your theory until bowl season, but I vehemently disagree that any conference is as bad as the BE. The ACC has Clemson and FSU, and the Big 12 has KSU and OU. Those two teams alone should move them ahead of the BE.

Not arguing KSU and OU should. Just would like to see it in the results.

Question for you though: What game did Clemson pass the "eye test" for you?

Good point, several teams in the BE have much better wins than Clemson. They have not beaten a team in the top #50.

TBH I haven't seen Clemson this season outside of the first half against South Carolina. I threw them out there because they were hyped up all season and considered a contender for the ACC.

Walked into that one I guess.
