Two new BCS Bowl Site’s?

  • I assume one is going to be the Cotton Bowl. Any idea’s what or where the other one is going to be? I’m hoping it’s in the Midwest but I doubt it.

The Rose Bowl and the Sugar are already in. They’re going to rotate the games among 6 different sites. They’re going to use the four current one’s (Orange, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar) and add two new ones. I think the Cotton Bowl is pretty much a lock for one. Not sure about the other.

  • It will likely be the "Champions Bowl" that the SEC/Big 12 are forming:

    -Rose (B1G v PAC-12)
    -Orange (ACC v At-large)
    -Sugar
    -Fiesta
    -Champions (Big XII v SEC)
    -Cotton

EDIT: Also, for those of you who think that the AQ status is gone, it isn't. They just cut out the Big East.

  • Does anyone think Atlanta is an option? It could get the city to start the new stadium that has been talked about for the last several years.

EDIT: I forgot that the Peach was in Atlanta. That could work.

I was thinking either the Chick-fil-A Bowl (Peach) or maybe a new bowl in Houston or maybe New York. Hoping for either Detroit, Indianapolis, or Chicago though. A game at Lambeau Field would be cool.

They will probably just make the Champions Bowl the Cotton Bowl.

  • I'm going to give 4 sites that can possibly get that last spot on the rotation
    1. Atlanta - Chick Fil A bowl, indoors, in the SE, and an easy trip for anyone
    2. Tampa - Outback Bowl, always puts ona good show and another easy site to fly to, weather is NOT a problem
3/4 Jacksonville & Orlando - Gator Bowl and Capital 1 Bowl, Again weather is not a problem, Jacksonville has a college like stadium/atmosphere & Orlando because of all the stuff to do in that town & their sponsor

If that is the case, I would think that the Peach (Chick Fil-A) Bowl is the next on the list.

makes alot of sense as those cities would be great sites to host

  • I would think that Indy would try to get one except that they probably have a good chance to host the national championship game now. Will they have a semifinal and NC game in the same venue? If not then maybe Detroit will try to get one.

I would almost bet it will be in the Outback Bowl in Tampa or The Capital One bowl in Orlando. Orlando has supposedly said they will do a complete overhaul of the Citrus Bowl (place in a dump). Orlando has Disney, Sea World Universal, etc....... plenty to do for both fan bases. The Outback bowl is played in Raymond James (Bucs stadium for those that are oblivious) Tampa has plenty to do as well. The have Theme Parks plus the Beaches. I know it will be in January, but plenty of Northern Schools that come down have " Beach Days" during bowl week. I could also see the Chick-fila-Bowl maybe getting a stab, but I would have to think the Florida locations would be the best bet weather wise and from a travel stand point.

makes sense to me and yeah heading to Florida during the winter almost makes it a slam dunk

  • It will be Indianapolis. They've hosted numerous Final Fours and just got done with what the NFL called one of the most complimented Super Bowl's ever. I've also understood that that Indy and "Jerry's World" have already both submitted bids.

I think the issue with Florida is that you already have the Orange Bowl in the mix. While Atlanta is right next door, at least it is in a different state (for the Peach Bowl). And that is nothing against the bowls themselves or the cities that they are hosted in, because they are all great destinations. I just think there will be a big stink with having 2 major bowls in one state.

  • You don't even really have to go outside. Over a million people did for the Super Bowl? It's not freakin Alaska!! Sell the fan bases?? The game?

  • Detroit did a great job with the Super Bowl in '06 and has had a ton of investment downtown over the last decade. With guys like Roger Penske pushing for it...I wouldn't count Detroit out...

  • I thought the Campionship Game was going to be bid on like the Super Bowl or Final Four? You guys might hate the idea of Indy on paper but it's the best for hosting sporting events for fans. Hotels and stadium are all within walking distance and in most cases you don't have to go outside because it all connects.

Here's what it would look like, this is from the Super Bowl.

It is, but the semis are going to be played at 6 different rotating sites. Their using the 4 previous BCS sites and adding two more.

Ahhh... Thanks. Well I retract my Indy idea. Title game only is what I'd expect for Indy. Busy day yesterday for me I only saw that the commissioners passed the 4 team playoff and Championship. Sorry

    This.

Indy won't be added in the 6 sites because it's not a current bowl site. It might get a NC game though because that goes to the highest bidder. I would say the two bowl sites that will be added will be the cotton bowl and peach bowl. Sites that will host a championship game will possibly include those 6, definitely Dallas, Indy, possibly NY if the super bowl goes well there, Houston, maybe Kansas city.

I hope so it would help the city out a lot.
