  • Would be interesting to see what Carolina would do with baseball. They'd be the equivalent of Boise State football in the WAC in the Big Ten.

If the Big Ten adds more ACC teams (it will), that will be less of an issue.

Is baseball that big of a deal? That's maybe the number 3 revenue sport. We talking big $$$ in B1G football, plus this would make the B1G even more of a national power in bball

Virginia is about the only one of the Big Ten's board that is nationally competitive in baseball.

That mindset is why it will be interesting to see how Carolina's baseball folks respond to all this. College baseball in a big deal in the Southern Atlantic and Deep South (SEC, FSU, Carolinas, CUSA, Sun Belt, etc).

Now I wasn't implying this would even have any impact on UNC leaving the ACC or not (it would not), but it would an interesting side-note to follow. My guess is their baseball people won't be very happy at all.

And soccer and lacrosse. They would basically be eliminating their athletic programs except for fball/bball.

GT is being targeted as well and don't forget about Nebraksa. Look, it's not going to be a great baseball conference, but it will have some good teams.

LAX will be fine. The Big Ten will have enough teams to form a league... if you add UVA to the mix, you will have some really good teams. PSU, UVA, UNC and Maryland... Duke will likely get an invite as well.

Soccer in the Big 10 is improving, Indiana won the NC this year and Maryland is going to be in the Big 10.

Lacrosse the Big 10 is improving too and if the Big 10 adds UVA with UMD then UNC would have two other ACC powers. They only would be missing Duke.

    Georgia Southern 1,298
    Texas State 1,287
    Troy 1,204

35 of the top 50 in attendance are from the SEC, ACC, Sun Belt, SoCon, CUSA or Texas. The only program from the Big Ten is Nebraska.

The rest of the Big Ten outside of Michigan and Ohio State every few years are basically the equivalent of club teams and the support is too. So it would be a pretty big change for Carolina's baseball program.

I can guarantee Tech's baseball folks will be irate. Their recruiting machine out of East Cobb will take a major hit if they moved to the Big Ten.

At pretty much anything. Texas is the king in Texas and always will be. A few down years in football isn't going to change that.

Big Ten soccer and lacrosse are plenty good. This move would make the big the best hoops, women's hoops, field hockey, men's soccer and women's soccer conference in the country. Lacrosse too if UVA comes.
