US backs UN arms treaty.

  • Does anyone realize that if they attempt to take away our second amendment rights, there will be a Civil War? I don't know about you but I'm guess that's not the best thing for sustainability.

How's that relevant? The Constitution overrules any contrary treaties. Plus, this treaty explicitly reserves the issue of gun ownership to individual states. Plus, this treaty is about preventing illicit arms smuggling to terrorist groups and militias, not about taking away American gun rights.

Welp say good bye to your firearms. I'd find a whole to put them in now.

That comment was meant for people who think like this^.

    That's how it's relevant.

And what is.so hard to believe about people in powerful positions betraying their fellow man? I mean its absurd to.think that could happen, wait thats history Lord you people are stupid.

Give them an inch and they take a mile. I don't know why the US even has anything to do with the United Nations. We need to worry about our own shit and stay out of other people's shit.

Such isolationist policies are part of the reason why WWII got started.

Please explain how the United States not meddling in foreign countries' problems started WWII

-We chose not to participate in the League of Nations
-The League of Nations lost legitimacy
-Without the US in the League, the League had no teeth
    -Other Countries pulled out
-This helped precipitate the events that led to WWII

The line of logic isn't hard to follow. The US (and many other countries) took isolationist attitudes after WWI. Everyone wanted to worry about themselves and not the world at large. With no powers involved enough to check their growth, countries like Italy, Japan, and Germany were able to get away with what they did and start another world war.

    Take a history class.

    You are an idiot.

The UN is just a vehicle for multinational treaties. The US has on many occasions told the UN to fuck off and has ignored them. The US happens to agree with this treaty and thus is voluntarily decided to abide by the conditions.

But by all means continue to think that the US just singed over its national sovereignty.

And you have literally no knowledge of the inner workings of the UN, nor do you have any knowledge of history in general.

The question is why art thou so angry?

Aren't you the same guy who compared the present day United States to the Late Roman Empire last week? I don't think you're in a position to lecture anyone on history.

I am angry because other people are so ignorant.

While i certainly could, i dont have the available information and don't want to hunt for it on the.internet.

Either way that is against the point. History shows us that our fellow man can't be trusted with to much power, that is 100% indisputable. Slowly but surely the UN will attain legitimacy which is certainly not good

I hope you know that a global politcal union is inevitable, but it won't come from an NGO like the UN, it will come gradually from regional unions like the EU (and proposed UNASUR and AU) coming together when the world has become so integrated and flat that it necessitates it. I'd probably guess that space exploration, commercialization and colonization will expedite this process as well.

So basically you don't have anything? Don't presume to lecture others on history when you don't know it yourself.

I doubt very seriously that the UN will ever have more than limited powers to keep peace and impose economic sanctions. We will always be able to opt out because we are the US and no one wants to mess with us.

Are you new to the internet? Im not going to go out of my way to find factual similarities between the US and Ancient Rome just because someone is "calling me out" on it.

I do agree it is inevitable, and the EU is certainly the first way this is taking shape. The UN will be the entire global aspect for it, it will link the EU to the north/south American and asian versions.

So when you wrote your original posts you didn't really know what you were talking about?

Much better to just throw something out there and see if people believe it?

Sure. Can you tell me how I was wrong in my post about the league of nations then? I'd love to hear how our isolationist policies didn't embolden fascist states in the 1930s
