USC Implosion Timeline

  • Someone asked for this on our homeboard. So I figured I'd share it with the rest of you. Don't get upset Trojans.. I just still can't believe that happened.

    I don't think anyone is questioning Kiffin's recruiting ability and he just happens to be the head coach at one of the most prestigious universities in college football. What he is pointing out is recruits realized how terrible he was at coaching, which caused the implosion.

    From what I saw this year out of Kiffin at USC, I really wouldn't be scared of USC as long as Kiffin is the coach.

    It's not personal .... You can't deny that it was one of the biggest implosions of a recruiting class in recent memory. The reasonable USC posters will admit this.

    Also... We had a better season on the field, and finished higher in the recruiting rankings. Sorry bout it.

  • The good news with the under signing is USC has used 25 of the 30 man scholarships sanctions up. Only 5 more scholarships will be lost with a class of 20 next year. Reductions are somewhat over.

    I was actual just going off this sites rankings. Now, I see that the composite has Green as a 5 star. So make it USC 4, UM 1. Wait, another site has USC with 5 - 5 stars so I guess its 5-1 SC.

    Losing Vanderdoes and Ramsey sucked, but all it did was turn one of the
    GOAT classes instead into a class that still has more 4 & 5 star recruits than all but 9 schools in the nation.

    Plus, signing more 5 stars than
    an entire AQ conference (Big 10) did is an interesting definition of implosion.

    As far as last season goes, looked like about the same mess, SC had 1 more loss, but Michigan was 3 pts from losing 7 games, plus nearly losing to Air Force for an 8th.

    Judging by scores and games amongst common opponents I would conservatively say USC by 7 over UM last year. Without Barkley, a pick'em game. I'm surprised you seem happy with that season last year.

    Oh and you can have the recruit ranking titles, and USC will just focus on Rose Bowl and MNC titles.

    August 2012: The Kiff says he did not vote USC #1 in the polls. It turns out he did.
    August 2012: The Kiff flies all of his offensive coaches on a private donors jet to meet with then PSU RB Silas Redd in order to have him transfer to USC, just days after giving BOB advice on how to handle the scholarship restrictions.
    Oct 20th: The Kiff switches jerseys of his backup QB for a 2 pt conversion attempt so that he wore the same number as the punter. He then changed the jersey back to #6 (an NCAA violation).
    Nov 3rd: The Kiff has a manager deflate balls (an NCAA violation).
    Dec 2012: The Kiff thinks it's more important to have a walk through for the team than it is to go to a Bowl dinner. GT ends up leaving before USC even makes the event.
    Dec 2012: Kiffen explains that he didn't give his other backup QB a chance to come in the bowl game after Max Wittek had a terrible game because of the temperature. It was nearly 50 degrees lol

    If you want to go another site route (you don't), then Michigan has 4 5 stars.

    Morris, Dymonte Thomas, and Patrick Kugler are all 5 stars on one site.

    No one in Michigan land was happy about last season, but yours was more embarrassing.

    Michigan is worried about getting good players to win the B1G and whatever that comes after it. Two classes back to back that have filled with good talent.

    Hey, we beat a top 25 team and a BCS bowl team this year. USC cannot claim the same can they? We also had more wins with only 67scholarship players and one less game to do it in. shrug
