USC can...

  • Put up 40 on ANYBODY, when they are clicking. Bama, LsU, FL ST, Michigan, Oregon. Teams simply dont have two CBs to stop Woods/Lee, they may have 1 CB to slow one of our recievers down, but the other WR will go off. Or our two NFL.TEs, or our two 1000 Yd Backs....
    Now how many points we give up?? Ughh, I still worry about our Defense. Im a realist not a blind homer like Trojanwarrior1 or Usctrojan1, our D is average at best until proven otherwise. We have some good Defenders like Bailey, TjMac, Robey, but we gotta prove it on the field first. Thats why LSU/Bama would be a hell of a game. Cant Wait!

  • They may not have the corners to cover both, but they would not be able to put up 40 on LSU or FSU because they would give Barkley about 2 seconds to make a throw.

    And with USC's defense, any team with a top 20 offense still has a chance to outscore them. USC's problem is not offense. It's defense. Ask Oregon and Wisconsin how well that works against the very top teams in the country.

    This is the question that needs to be answered honestly.We have a stout run defense but the pass defense was sorely lacking.If the pass defense is improved I don't see anyone beating us.Bama and LSU's passing attacks don't really scare me though.Now FSU is another story.

  • Every team thinks this... until they get punched in the mouth by an elite D, e.g., Bama, LSU, FSU, UF... not the defenses in the Pac-12.

    I'm not saying that USC isn't loaded on O--they are. But I don't think ANY O can put 40 (forty) points on a Bama, LSU, FSU or UF D.

    One of the most unsung aspects of USC's offense going into 2012, will be our 2 TE formations. College defenses, including Bama, and LSU will have serious trouble trying to deal with that. There is just so much you can do from an X's and O's standpoint to get mismatches you want with a 2 TE formation. In addition it aids in pass pro as well. This is an offense on a much different level than anyone.

    You guys haven't played a defense like LSUs, Bama, or FSU.

    Anybody can score 40 a game in the PAC 12.

    You haven't seen a pass rush from the likes of FSUs or LSUs in several years.

    Its easy for Barkley when he has 8 seconds to throw the ball.

    Not the same type of athletes that can cause those mismatches like USC has. It really is an issue, especially when you put both TE's on the short side, then have Lee and Woods on the wide side of the field. Put extra db's in, get pounded by the run. Keep your base D in, and the play action and/or straight drop will be there. It is a very, very tough combination of scheme and talent that your D will not remotely face until you see USC. Hopefully this happens. USC vs LSU/Bama is the game that everyone wants to see.

    Bama runs a different defensive scheme and is more tuned towards stopping the run than rushing the passer.
