You guys haven't played a defense like LSUs, Bama, or FSU.

Anybody can score 40 a game in the PAC 12.

You haven't seen a pass rush from the likes of FSUs or LSUs in several years.

Its easy for Barkley when he has 8 seconds to throw the ball.

Yes that is why USC's record against out of conference and bowl teams has been so poor over the last decade.

Bama is good no doubt but to say they would just have their way with us is some extreme hyperbole. We have just as many horses as they do trust me.We're a pass first team anyway with a GREAT pass blocking O-line.Do you see what I'm getting at?

I'm getting that you are a homer, if that's what you are getting at.

How don't I have a clue? I said most teams don't have the CBs to cover USC's WRs, but if they play a team like LSU or FSU, who have elite pass rushers, it doesn't matter because Barkley will be under high pressure the whole game and struggle to get the ball out.

Put up 40 on ANYBODY, when they are clicking. Bama, LsU, FL ST, Michigan, Oregon. Teams simply dont have two CBs to stop Woods/Lee, they may have 1 CB to slow one of our recievers down, but the other WR will go off. Or our two NFL.TEs, or our two 1000 Yd Backs.... Now how many points we give up?? Ughh, I still worry about our Defense. Im a realist not a blind homer like Trojanwarrior1 or Usctrojan1, our D is average at best until proven otherwise. We have some good Defenders like Bailey, TjMac, Robey, but we gotta prove it on the field first. Thats why LSU/Bama would be a hell of a game. Cant Wait!

    Uh no....

Sure Barkley will be under extreme pressure because you said so.Obviously our O-line isn't good enough to protect him from big bad Bama or LSU right? We're all entitled to believe what we want though. You think I'm a homer because I believe our O-line will more than hold their own right?Funny thing is I never once said USC would win or lose.I merely stated that our O-line is good enough to hold their own against ANYONE.

  • Number of ranked opponents USC was able to "hang" 40 on (in regulation) in the last 3 years: 0.

Number of unranked opponents who were able to "hang" 40 on USC last year: 2.

You didn't hang 40 on Oregon last year. Ironically, the only team who could, was LSU.

As a matter of fact, the three teams you scored 40 on last year were:

    Arizona - 107 in scoring defense (35ppg)
Washington - 108th in scoring defense (averaging 36ppg)
    Colorado - 109 in scoring defense (37ppg)

Colorado - you only scored +5 points higher than their average allowed. Washington +4 points and Arizona +13.

That's only an average of 7.3 points higher than average allowed by each of those awful defenses.

Alabama, conversely, gave up 8ppg last year. Not 37, not 35, 8. LSU? 11. Good luck trying to hang 40 on either of those when the only teams you could hang 40 on last year were ranked 107, 108, 109 in scoring defense.

The highest rated defense you played was Utah - allowing 20ppg. You scored 23.

    Thanks for playing...

    The return of stat boy.

The only arguments you ever make is by pulling out a bunch of random stats that have no bearing being compared because no teams played more than one common opponent.

The OP was silly as I already indicated but to watch all the Bama fans get trolled so hard by it is rich.

  • Here's another fact:

USC faced, on average, the 69th best defense in the nation.

Those defenses gave up 28.3 ppg. USC only scored 34.6 in regulation. So 6.3 points higher than the 69th best team gave up to anybody else.

So how on earth are you going to score 40 against LSU, Bama, or FSU?

I was trying to go back and find a ranked team USC put 40 on. If you'd rather just mention that they failed to do it last year, you can.

I only had to go back to last year to find unranked opponents who managed to do it to them, however.

    ANYBODY? but the SEC

    Since 2000
Last 23 games the SEC played against the Pac12

    The SEC averaged 26 ppg
    The PAC averaged 28 ppg.

Your statement should have read ---

The SEC can almost win more games than it loses to the Pac12 in the BCS Era
    but not quite.

The GREAT SEC Defenses gave up almost 30 ppg to Pac12 offenses
Terrible Pac12 Defenses hold SEC Offenses to 26 ppg.

but probably just more random selective useless stats that should be ignored.

    USC fans don't understand stats

The FANS of a Confence don't understand reality

The SECons said the same thing before the last round of beat downs
and they'll say the same thing before the next beat down.

"Do it against an SEC Defense" - Yep, it's not that hard.

Ironic that Bamagrad is all about the 40 pts per game thing ---Considering

USC averaged 41.8 ppg the last 4 games that SEC teams were man enough to play
and gave up only 12 ppg.

Kudos to you Auburn and Arkansas for having the balls to schedule those games.

That's only an average of 7.3 points higher than average allowed by each of those awful defenses.

So going by unimportant-stat boy's theory above

Alabama score avg was 13.5 vs LSU in 2 games
LSU gave up an avg of 18.8 ppg vs the 4 other top 20 they played (Oregon, WVU, Georgia, Ark)
    - 5.3
    Vs SEC teams
Miss State gave up 23ppg (Bama 24) +1
    Tennessee gave up 28ppg (Bama 37) + 9

+ 4.7 / 3 = Bama only scored + 1.6 more than the avg those teams gave up.

Your argument and the stats you used are stupid.

If you want a stat that is worth considering why it happened or what is overrated
[like SEC D because they play against SEC O]

than look no further than Bama & LSU opponents last year
    8 OOC teams = scored 11 TD's in ONLY 8 games
    16 SEC games = scored only 10 TD's vs LSU/Bama in 16 games.
