I see a strong 8-4/9-3 season for the Vols
08/31/12 vs. North Carolina State TV Georgia Dome (Atlanta, Ga.) W 09/08/12 vs. Georgia State Knoxville, Tenn. W 09/15/12 vs. Florida * Knoxville, Tenn. W 09/22/12 vs. Akron Knoxville, Tenn. W 09/29/12 at Georgia * Athens, Ga. L 10/13/12 at Mississippi State * Starkville, Miss. W 10/20/12 vs. Alabama * Knoxville, Tenn. L 10/27/12 at South Carolina * Columbia, S.C. L 11/03/12 vs. Troy Knoxville, Tenn. W 11/10/12 vs. Missouri * Knoxville, Tenn. W 11/17/12 at Vanderbilt * Nashville, Tenn. W 11/24/12 vs. Kentucky * Knoxville, Tenn. W Next Event
I predict a 9-3 season, though USCe or Florida could easily flip. Probably have the second best offense in the SEC behind UGA.

Nobody really knows how Hunter is going to turn out. He looks good, but has admitted he doesn't feel the same. C. Patterson could be better than Hunter or DaRick; he hasn't played against SEC competition, but some coaches who have witnessed say he is lights out.
The trump in this deck will be Bray. He will have open receivers; will he be able to take what the d offers and move the chains? Raijon Neal will also be explosive target out of the backfield. The O line should be mature enough to handle the pressure. Plenty of potential there barring ANY injuries...still no depth in roster.
Looking for J. Smith to have breakout year on defense under Sal's watch.

i totally agree with you although i really think that 8 wins would be great in my mind ; Def will be young again and will be the liability of the team this year although they werent horrible last year - only lose one player from the def starters

Our passing game should be as good as its being billed. Thing about our O-Line is for the most part (save when Matt Simms played) they were excellent in pass pro last year. Everyone says we had a horrible line last year, but they were just inconsistent. Excellent in pass pro and not very good against the run. The running game is the question. Marlin Lane cannot fly as has been said ITT, and we still don't know who our #1 is going to be. I think the line will be better run blocking, but we are still waiting for a RB to emerge, and that will really determine whether we can be like Arky last year (I think our D will be about that good), or more middle of the road.

fair enough but the addition of Jay Graham as a full time RB coach as well as the addition of Neal ( who can fly ) back to RB will help the running game ; agree that we dont have anything close to a Lattimore type player back there but do think we have serviceable RB's who can carry the ball enough to be useful . Add Watson , Howard and D Young back there and you have some interesting dynamics
