A deep and talented pool of underclassmen highlighted last Friday's Under Armour All-America Combine at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

  • Bo at OLB is interesting. I know with the type of RB talent we are gathering it might help him get on the field a little earlier. 6'1" 1/2 is pushing it for height in our system, though. However, Saban did say he wanted to go after a few more athletic LB's to help out in the passing game. Guess we will see. Good stuff.

  • Godwin has a Penn State offer too.

How was Andrew Ford's arm strength? That's a pretty decent 40 time for him.

Good 40 time for Johnathan Thomas. Any indication on his feelings towards PSU?

    Thanks for the notes, Gerry.

Huge red flag that he's talking about wanting to play wide receiver and believes he is.

You have a hard time getting guys like that to buy in on defense.

I personally think he's a running back and just needs to chill and do what he's been great at, but my guess is a stupid person has gotten in his ear and told him he's going to get hurt playing that spot and that he actually has the same upside at receiver.

  • -A little suprised at some of Berrios' testing numbers given how he dominated the Charlotte Sparq in the Spring 2012. 40 time was better in Charlotte on "relative" basis given the fastest times at each event.

-Everyone knows that the 6'2", 215 Bo Scarbrough (2014) is rocked-up/diesel but interesting that 5'10', 170-175, 2015 prospect Bryce Love did 20 bench press reps at 185 pounds at the US Army Combine while Scarbrough did 16 reps. Love is 40 pounds lighter and 1 year younger but did more bench reps.

Yeah Berrios is faster than what he ran at Under Armour based on the other data I've seen.

  • Thought Evan Berry would have run a better 40 time. Maybe he's a slow starter as he's a high 10.6/10.7 guy In the 100m dash.

Ford does need to let it rip more, as I know that is a question on him - not because he doesn't have plus arm strength, but it's more of an unknown.

He throws a lot of timing and touch passes, and did Friday - in limited reps.

Thomas would be interested in Penn State based on my short convo, but he's from Virginia and Virginia Tech was his favorite growing up. They are the favorite.

In watching him, 40 time is irrelevant. He's a slot WR with elite COD. His shuttle and L-cone were among the very best - and I do believe that is what plays into his on the field.

I've always liked Bo as an OLB type. An elite athlete at OLB with a 6-foot-2, 245-40-pound frame, plus COD, is physical and is going to a school that I can see him ending up there.

Also with his knee injury history, not sure taking handoffs with those long legs and knees exposed is his best chance for career longevity.

Tough call. Long ways to go. I lean more to RT, but he's going to be a late developer. What he looks like today is likely going to be a lot different this time next year.

  • JC or Gerry what do you guys think about Josh Frazier? I have seen him and bijon Jackson play more than 2 times each while Frazier has the better size they both play about the same. I'd take Frazier bc of his size but both these guys are absolute studs.

How good and how high do you see Frazier getting? Also sorry to bring someone else up but all I heard was how great Bijon Jackson did at his combine then got an 87 slapped on him I think? Most consider him the 2nd best prospect in the state.

Do you guys know the DTs we are on for next year? Josh Frazier, Bijon Jackson(already committed), Craig Evans stud DT from Madison WI, Chuck Ota most underrated player in AR next year, Enoch Smith Jr from IL did very well at the SF combine(has family in AR), and Dylan Thompson from IL who also did very well at SF Combine those are the main ones we are on. I expect to take 4-5 at least Jackson, Frazier, Ota, and Smith JR but there is no way we turn down Craig Evans or Dylan Thompson. Just seeing if you knew we were on them, what you thought our chances are, and what you thought about all of them?

  • Josh Frazier is a nose/zero deluxe. While not necessarily weight room strong yet, he plays strong and powerful and will be a handful for any center.

He's one of those guys that combine testing results are nearly meaningless as he will be asked to work in short space, so some quickness to go with his power and 335'ish pounds is all that he really needs (technique and understanding a given). Looked pretty flexible too - can play with pretty low pad level for his size.

Thanks for the analysis on Ford. I had been wondering why he hasn't gotten an offer yet, but I'm sure some will be on the way.

I can't explain the lack of offer from Ford.

I bet wherever he ends up, he'll be a quality QB though.

    Didn't test as well.

Nothing jumped out one way or the other - with the understanding that there were a lot of kids and 7-on-7 was going on both ends of the field at the same time. If one is looking one way, you can easily miss something on the other end.
