University Of Michigan 2011-2012 Season

  • To piggy back off of ScoutE, I think we should have a separate thread for the season, as opposed to cluttering the recruiting thread.

    Now we'll see if Hoke is as good a coach as a recruiter. I'm think 9-3 with loss to Notre Dame, Iowa and NeB

    September 3 Western Michigan
    September 10 Notre Dame
    September 17 Eastern Michigan
    September 24 San Diego State
    October 1 Minnesota
    October 8 @ Northwestern
    October 15 @ Michigan State
    October 29 Purdue
    November 5 @ Iowa
    November 12 @ Illinois
    November 19 Nebraska
    November 26 Ohio State

  • Well if we are turning this into a prediction thread here are a few of my individual predictions for next season. RB competition ends up with Mike Cox and Vince Smith playing the most with Hopkins playing some FB and short yardage RB. (Although if Shaw is healthy I have no idea.) I have a suspicion Jeremy Gallon has a unexpected breakout season, nothing too crazy but a couple hundred receiving yards and a couple TDs. This will be enough to get us really excited about him in 2012. On defense Courtney Avery, Carvin Johnson, and Troy Woolfolk will have at least 12 interceptions between them. Also Kovaks wont have over 100 tackles this year but only because Cam Gordon, Marell Evans, and Kenny Demens are good enough that he wont have to make tackles 12 yards downfield every other play. Matt Wile Wins the kicking job and makes around 70% of his kicks, I will accept that as a win after last season.

    We won 7 games last year with horrible coaching, the current staff is a complete upgrade. Nine wins can happen, is it possible sure, unlikely yes. "No way" is kinda harsh, who was pegging msu for 11 wins last year?

    Yep..., and you were lucky to win 7 you guys won all of your toss-up games. (Not saying that MSU wasn't lucky either)

    I'll make this my first post over here. I see five wins (Western, Eastern, SDSU, Minnesota, Purdue), two toss-ups (ND, Iowa), two traps (Northwestern, Illinois), and three underdogs (MSU, Nebraska, OSU).

    ND is a toss-up for the night game factor, otherwise I'd see us being an underdog. Northwestern makes trap status owing to us playing MSU the following week, along with Persa returning.

    I thought you guys won 6? (edit: I was wrong) I do think UM could win 9... but if there was a gun to my head, I'd say 7 wins is the most likely result.

    I'll go with 8-4.

    Schedule sets up real well with a new staff coming in.

    Iowa at home wasn't losing a toss up game? I think most people would have called Penn State a toss up game as well.

    I agree, I believe that we split MSU and OSU. We can win both if everything is clicking but I see us losing one of them.

  • Hey ScoutExile, are you going to post your schedule breakdown for the Roundtable, or is this thread supposed to be it? If so, let us know so we can link it.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    The Game hasn't even been competitive in about five years. What makes you think you can actually compete with OSU this year?

    UM:

    @ND 28-24 W Toss-up
    UMass 42-37 W Toss-up
    @IU 42-35 W Toss-up
    UI 67-65 3OT W Toss-up

    At worse: 3-9
    half: 5-7
    At best: 7-5
    actual record: 7-5

    MSU:

    ND 34-31 OT W Toss-up
    @NW 35-27 W Toss-up
    PU 35-31 W Toss-up
    @PSU 28-22 W Toss-up

    At worse: 7-5
    half: 9-3
    At best: 11-1
    Actual record: 11-1

    MSU and Michigan were both very lucky to have the records that they did.
