I actually agree with everything you said here.

it's not hard to see Foster and be blown away...

link to him as a soph.

kid is insane. Kind of resembles AJ Green body type as a soph. as well, 6'2/6'3 and lanky with some serious wheels

Morris didn't exactly have a 5* year. 51% completion percentage, 1600yrds, 19/7 td/int; didn't exactly set the world on fire against mediocre competition(worse than Browne's). Morris looks great in shorts, but Browne has been doing it with the pads on.

dude...Morris plays at a crap school. De La Salle is a private, catholic all-boys college prep school that costs around like $12-15 grand a year, that does not give out athletic scholarships. 99% of the school is rich white kids. Shane literally plays with next to no talent. His WR's drop literally everything.

Also not sure if his competition is worse. The catholic league actually has some good teams once in awhile- Detroit CC is actually usually pretty good, and I believe that DLS played some tough public schools this year like FHH and Cass Tech- and both of those schools are loaded with future BCS level talent. Loaded.

Shane is literally the only BCS level kid on his entire team. Literally. They probably don't even have a MAC caliber kid on their team.

Also, state of Michigan puts out by far more NFL players than state of Washington. In fact, Detroit is one of the top 10 cities for NFL players, and Saginaw also produces quite a few as well.

Morris has no talent on his team. His WRs and OL are absolutely awful. His WRs drop more passes than they catch. His OL gives him about "3 apple" to throw every time. And he still led them to the State Semifinals. Also, the Detroit Catholic League is good competition.

Put this Browne kid on Warren DeLaSalle and he'll have similar stats.

Perfect fit at UM then. He should be well prepared.

Jalin is very explosive no doubt....but so is Robert Foster. Foster is also a...you know...Wide Receiver. Jalin plays QB/RB and some D, he's never really played WR.

I love Jalin Marshall though, he is awesome, but if I had to pick between the two I'm taking Robert Foster every time. That is a AJ Green type WR. Maybe not quite at that level as a prospect...but man...he's close. He's really, really, really, really fricken good. I think he's easily a top 5 player in the country...kind of shocked he isn't rated that high to be honest.

And if you give me the Jalin = Percy thing...alright...I could see that....but to me an AJ Green type >x1,000 than a Percy type.

I think Urban Meyer will land both Marshall and Foster. Then the case for who's better will begin to play out on Saturdays in Columbus.

  • So Morris' team is crap, his stats are crap, and his team went to the state semi's? Is that what I'm getting from this discussion?

But then I'm also getting that he plays against pretty good competition.

He must be great to be able to lead a crap team and win against good teams while having mediocre stats. It must be the "best leadership skills" in the country I saw he has earlier.

Sarcasm aside. I'm sure he is a good QB. I just think the points being made are stepping over each other.

Wouldn't be so sure on that.

Marshall is a given, kid is from Ohio and grew up dreaming of being a Buckeye.

Foster doesn't want to play in a spread offense with a running QB. Kid wants to play in an offense where he will get the ball, and Pitt has been his arse since he was like in 8th grade.

With O'Brien getting hired at Penn State, I could see him winding up there. O'Brien can pitch that "hey bro, I was an NFL offensive co-ordinator, I worked with that dude Tom Brady and Wes Welker- play for me and I'll develop you into an NFL WR".

What is Urban going to pitch? Hey dude, play for me and catch 30 passes a season and never develop into an NFL WR! Yeah man! I'm Urban Meyer!

I'm not denying that the kid is a good leader. Never have.

I just hate for a phrase like "best leadership skills in the country" as if it's a measurable to be thrown around as if we're comparing 40-yard dash times or height. That is an impossible statement to make.

Can we just agree that he has "great leadership skills"? I'd rather not anoint him the definitive leadership king of 2013. That's all.

    agreed.

Think it's crazy that the Michigan fans jumped all over you for not having Morris at #1 QB. I mean, it's not like you all had him at #25 QB and not in your top 247....kid is #2 QB and in the top 15 players in the nation!

I like Browne a lot too btw, he's really good. But he is just so damn skinny and he plays for a HS program that sort of just manufactures stats and pumps out talent, so I do kind of worry about that. I wonder if his stats are so good because of the talent he plays with and because of that system. Jake Heaps was from that same HS and put up redunkulous stats as well and was rated very highly- he was even a 5* over at TOS (not Rivals) and well he has not wound up doing much of anything yet- looking like he is on the road to bust. I know it's not fair to judge one player from the previous...but you do have to kind of wonder about that....you know the talent around him and the system and everything.

I understand that concern. I will say this about Heaps: We should have seen that he was overrated. He has none of the measurables that Browne has. That was a bad - and I mean really bad - quarteraback year and I think people (me included) just kind of thought "surely somebody's gotta be good right?" and Heaps was the default kid with decent size, good polish and major production.

I think this year is different. Looks like a good year and Browne looks like a legit prospect to me. Size, arm-strength, good feel for the position, can throw in more than just a clean pocket, touch. It's still early. I may change my mind on him personally but for now, I like him.

Seriously, look at that Jake Heaps QB year. Tyler Bray is maybe the only pro-style kid with a case for 4-stars. I guess there's still time for someone to pan out.
