    Drops Jalin, 247 sucks.

Raises Zeke, 247 is the best.

Jalin is still a 5 star to me. We all know he is a helluva player, but he still has a ways to go at receiver. Once he gets to college, it will be fun watching him grow. Kid is electrifying with the ball in his hands.

We think his ceiling as a receiver/playmaker is high for sure.

I think I agree with 247. Zeke ran faster, and is more polished. I know Jalin is going to be a project moving to the slot, but I thought he'd do better in the measurables. He seems faster with pads on.

As far as the measurables, only Jalin's forty time was pause for concern. He was top 15 in the shuttle and top 10 in vert. He is very explosive. I can understand a drop based on his 7-on performance, or lack thereof. He is raw as a route runner, and his team (and quarterback Brice Ramsey) apparently struggled in this setting. But there is no denying how special he is when the ball is in his hands and a defender has to tackle him. There isn't a player in Ohio who is more dangerous from a big play standpoint. His film backs that up. But if he's in a setting where it's one-hand touch and he can't get the ball in his hands, then there isn't really much he can do.

I was just surprised at how far he dropped, from a 5-star to the lowest ranked guy with a 95 rating. We are told camp performances are but a small part of the overall evaluation, but it's hard to ignore a huge drop after one camp. Either Jalin was due for a hit before this camp (which would be surpising considering the reviews he got in other camps), or there was a lot of weight put into his performance at The Opening.

probably didn't get a bump because you are asking for one..

JC stated a few weeks back that he would be getting a bump, was wondering why he hadn't. JC answered my question..

I agree with the jumps for Denson and Ryan Green. I think they are well deserved and a pretty accurate ranking going into their Senior seasons. I have one question though. Im a bit surprised that Tony Stevens is ranked ahead of Isaiah Jones, Ive heard that Jones is a more complete and polished WR to this point. Can any of you eleborate on this? Thanks

We like Isaiah Jones as a senior season ascender for sure. A guy we can't wait to see in 2012.

  • How is Davin Bellamy not in there? He has like 22 BCS offers.

  • No Jourdan Lewis?

I think Jones is very good and will continue to ascend. I also am not sure he doesn't have a higher upside than Stevens (i.e. Stevens is better receiver right now, more polished, but Jones will pass him). Both were solid at The Opening and both have good film.

Of the two, I personally like Jones better. We will see how it plays out.

We weight offer list and that is why Bellamy moved from a two star prospect to a three. Great upside guy, but not a top 300-350 prospect in America at this point.

No. After talking it over with everyone we like him where he is. Four stars, but not in the Top247.

I think that is the biggest argument rational Buckeye fans have about his drop. Rave about the kid for months then drop him to the lowest 95 out there based off ONE camp. Then go out and use the argument of it is only one camp to justify not bumping people up that performed well in one camp.

I've always said Jail should be about a 95, but probably the higher 95 when it comes to ranking against other players. I just don't like the logic of how they dropped him after this one performance. They should at least come out and say we think we were wrong in the beginning to have him ranked so high.

No. We dropped him to three stars this past time. He's a 6-1 defensive end. Very good in camps, but film and feedback from coaches in his area made us re-evaluate his ranking.

We didn't drop him based on one camp. He was going to drop regardless. We don't think he's a five-star athlete and overrated him for a while (the only rankings that really matter or that we care about, to be honest, are the ones at the end).

We waited until The Opening because we wanted to make sure what we thought was true. It was. He didn't move down a ton in the grand scheme of things, but we are very comfortable with him in the 80s and at 95.

Rankings are re-shuffled after events, but it's not like we go up and down based 100 percent on performance at a particular event. Very often, it's what we see combined with additional feedback. Many times, it's not even the prospect, it's the other prospects ascending.

    FWIW

    From http://usc.247sports.com/Board/29/Monday-Afternoon-Recruiting-Nugget-2--10779534/1 :

"The USC staff loves Hatcher." - Scott Schrader

"What does Monte Kiffin know about defensive players?"

"Why would 6'1 be seen as a negative for a DE ?

Concern about getting around OTs with long reach ?

I'd rather have a fast, strong guy at 6'1 than someone without the quickness who's 6'5."

"6'1 may be a hair on the short side but he would wreak havoc against teams like Oregon. He's quick enough to chase down the QBs or RB plus their Oline isn't exactly stellar at stopping the speed rush. Fu@& it if the staff loves him then so do I."

"6'1 =Leverage and the staff loves him nuff said they also loved Ramsey before he blew up on all the recruiting sites , circuits.and camps."

6'1" NFL players: Tedy Bruschi, Dwight Freeney, Elvis Dumervil (5'11")

Hatcher ran a 4.06 shuttle at the Opening.
