  • "This stops you right in your tracks," Corbin said in the release. "These are life occurrences that can't be explained ... there are no 'do-overs.'

This quote by Coach Corbin hit me strong; so many young people needlessly seem to be giving up. There is too much to be done to be leaving so early no matter the reason.

My widowed neighbor had a son, who was 36 i believe, that hung himself in their barn. I was outside mowing the yard and she came running down the road screaming at the top of her lungs that she needed help. Unfortunatley, i had to be the one to put a chair under him and cut him down. He was way messed up on drugs and that was why he had been living there at the time. I had never witnessed something so horrid and life changing and probably never will but it definitley gives you perspective of life and helps you put you priorities in the right order.

I can't imagine what could give someone the thought to commit suicide but noone knows how someone thinks or feels. Plus, like you said, adding in the alcohol and drugs that can cause even more depression is just adding to the already terrible situation.

I feel for this young man and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

  • Terrible. Feel awful for this kid's family and friends.

Honestly though, I've got no sympathy for a person who takes his own life. You're causing more pain to those around you that you could ever imagine. Besides, if you detest life so much, or if you're having such a problem that you feel you need to end your own life to escape, why don't you start over? Why don't you get the hell out? Go travel the world. Move to Spain and bang some chicks. Go hunt down some sharks or terrorists or something. You were looking at a 100% death rate before, at least if you go do something dangerous like that, you're playing it safe, relatively speaking at least. Go help someone else. I don't know, the world is your oyster. Maybe after you did some of that, you wouldn't want to kill yourself, because you've seen how beautiful the world is.

Suicide is, without a doubt, the most selfish act you could ever commit. Like I said though, feel awful for his family and friends...I can't imagine what they're going through.

People with mental illnesses don't think the same way as people without them. It isn't as easy as you make it sound.
