Vatican excommunicates mom of raped 9-year-old girl for abortion

  • Seminole734 said...

Formal cooperation in an abortion has always been an automatic excommunication. Nothing new about it. Correct decision. The evil of a rape does not excuse the greater evil of an abortion. And, yes, the abortion is without doubt the greater evil.

And people wonder why youth are moving away from the church.

The circumstances leading to a pregnancy are completely irrelevant to the evil of a procured abortion. Anyone in a state of mortal sin (including homosexual priests and stepfathers who rape 9 year-olds) is barred from receiving Holy Communion without first obtaining a sacramental confession. This case is somewhat unique in that the mother and doctors cooperated to procure an abortion after being specifically warned by church authorities of the consequences of such a sinful action. They deliberately and consciously engaged in actions that the Church recognizes as gravely sinful. This was willfull and public disobedience. Those comparing this case to the disgusting scandals of homosexual priests abusing teenage boys are failing to make the proper distinctions...at least in a canonical sense.

    Most child molesters are straight.

But keep up the gay bashing.

I'm sorry, but the Church don't mean shit and is all just human creation. Excommunication is the most bullshit thing created by the Pope and abused too to the max.

I'm hoping he is not but I kind of had that feeling to..... Crazy people out there.

Crazy people? You mean people that believe that one evil action does not excuse or warrant an action of greater evil? It seems "crazy" to me that anyone could reasonably believe that a rape justifies the destruction of innocent life. And, yes, I'm 100% serious.

My aunt legitimately tried to tell me that because the Pope canonized people that their bodies are given miraculous properties and don't decay in the same way as us less holy people.

    Oryhara,

It's not gaybashing. Whether statistics show that most child molesters are straight is irrelevent. The problem in the Church involved predatory homosexual priests abusing post-pubescent boys. Many Bishops handled this disgusting scandal in very sinful ways. Very, very sad especially for a Catholic to see our leaders act in such ways. Absolutely no excuse.

I would have told her I am worshipping Egyptian gods because they are way better at preventing decay than Catholics.

Yes you are. You are implying that all of the molesters are gay when they are not. You are making gay people the evil ones when some of the priests are straight. Catholic priests also abused girls and you are omitting that fact to make gays looks worse and straights look better.

Statistically, she would have a higher chance.

Also would be more likely to live in abject poverty and the same for the kids.

Because I'm sure hunger and squalor on earth is better than never knowing pain and being in possible heaven.

Saints whose bodies do not decay in the same way as typical human bodies are called "The Incorruptibles." It's certainly a real phenomenon. I have seen a couple of the myself. However, most saints' bodies are most certainly not granted this gift. It is quite rare acutally.

Maybe the church could have sold some their untold wealth to support the family. I bet that never came up.

I didn't omit anything. The problem in the Church almost exclusively involved homosexual priests taking advantage of post-pubescent boys. That said, there certainly have been cases of heterosexual priests abuusing young girls. Those cases are, however, relatively rare. Both actions are gravely sinful.
