I want to change my name to "The Incorruptibles" on here now. You should too BLF and we can fight these arguments together forever on TBB.

    Yes. Yes. Yes.

The problem in the Church almost exclusively involved homosexual priests taking advantage of post-pubescent boys.

Except is hasn't. Go watch "Deliver us from Evil." The case that blew the lid mainly involved girls being abused. Keep lying to yourself though. You're obviously skilled at it.

Of course they are going to take advantage of killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Im still waiting for an answer Seminole on whether what those priests did are excommunicatable?

    Oryhara,

I'm thoroughly familiar with the issue. I would recommend you study it further if you want to avail yourself of the facts.

  • Goodnight gentlemen. I thought that a dissenting voice and a defense of the Catholic Church was needed in this thread. No hard feelings. God Bless. Hopefully, my prayers will help EJ Levenberry to pick FSU on Tuesday!

At least their downfalls aren't written into the government of the church for the most part. Excommunicating someone? Who do you think you are? Oh yeah.......

The circumstances leading to a pregnancy are completely irrelevant to the evil of a procured abortion. Anyone in a state of mortal sin (including homosexual priests and stepfathers who rape 9 year-olds) is barred from receiving Holy Communion without first obtaining a sacramental confession. This case is somewhat unique in that the mother and doctors cooperated to procure an abortion after being specifically warned by church authorities of the consequences of such a sinful action. They deliberately and consciously engaged in actions that the Church recognizes as gravely sinful. This was willfull and public disobedience. Those comparing this case to the disgusting scandals of homosexual priests abusing teenage boys are failing to make the proper distinctions...at least in a canonical sense.

    F "the Church."

If "the Church" was really any sort of real Christian entity, it'd learn to FORGIVE such "sinful" actions as aborting the spawn of a rapist.

    The Vatican is a horde of self-righteous, sexually-repressed, money-grubbing, fear-mongers.

    Your religion sucks.

    Oryhara,

It's not gaybashing. Whether statistics show that most child molesters are straight is irrelevent. The problem in the Church involved predatory homosexual priests abusing post-pubescent boys. Many Bishops handled this disgusting scandal in very sinful ways. Very, very sad especially for a Catholic to see our leaders act in such ways. Absolutely no excuse.

But yet there you are, towing the company line. And yes, the Catholic church is a "company."

Formal cooperation in an abortion has always been an automatic excommunication. Nothing new about it. Correct decision. The evil of a rape does not excuse the greater evil of an abortion. And, yes, the abortion is without doubt the greater evil.

I would like to nominate this for dumbest post of the year.

Wow. I can't believe anyone would actually feel that way, considering the facts.
